Rooster Teeth returns under new ownership! Just under a year since its closure, the original founder Burnie Burns has purchased the company through his own production company, named Box Canyon.
By May 2024, Rooster Teeth had to close its business as Warner Bros. Discovery was unable to locate potential buyers for their struggling entertainment media company, which proved unprofitable.
In a recent announcement, Burnie Burns revealed that his production company, Box Canyon, has taken over Rooster Teeth, along with a significant portion of its remaining resources, without providing detailed information on the exact assets acquired.
As a passionate gamer, I’m thrilled to share that in the year 2025, I’ll be part of an exciting journey with Box Canyon, where we’ll bring back some beloved classics and breathe new life into them! We’ve also got an original audio show in the works called “Again,” which promises to be a fantastic addition to our lineup. But wait, there’s more – we’re not just stopping at updates; we’re taking it up a notch with a fresh take on Burns’ first film: “The Schedule” – a reimagining that I can hardly wait to be a part of!
Veteran viewers may recall RvB (short for Rooster Teeth’s Red vs Blue) as the show that made headlines with its groundbreaking Halo series, which spanned an astounding 19 seasons and set records for longevity in web series history.
As a die-hard fan, I can proudly say that this company has been responsible for some incredible productions, including the captivating 3D anime-style series, RWBY. With nine seasons under its belt, it’s no surprise that it’s sparked a multitude of spin-offs, mangas, and video games. Their latest venture, Gen:Lock, debuted in 2019 and boasts Michael B. Jordan as the lead voice actor – talk about star power!
To add to this, Rooster Teeth operated a diverse podcast network with a broad spectrum of themes. Each of these assets was offered for separate purchase by Warner Bros Discovery, making it unclear precisely which ones Box Canyon Productions eventually obtained.
Without a doubt, fans are thrilled to see Rooster Teeth back on track, under new management capable of nurturing the company effectively and guiding it towards the correct path.
Burns expressed his eagerness to return Rooster Teeth to its original spirit in a recent statement. He believes that the core essence of this brand lies with its devoted fans, and he’s eager to write a fresh story alongside them.
Are Red vs Blue and RWBY making a return? Only time will tell.
