In 2023, Rosario Dawson introduced Ahsoka Tano to live action in the Disney+ series centered around the titular Jedi’s adventures. Recently, Dawson shared a backstage photo, signaling that filming for the eagerly awaited second season of the show has commenced.
In my latest post, I’ve shared a sneak peek of the intricate Ahsoka prosthetics and makeup that transform me into this iconic character, as I prepare to embark on an exciting adventure to distant galaxies. Accompanied by the caption, “And we’re off…to galaxies far, far away…!”, my fellow co-stars from our beloved series have taken notice. Among them are Teddy Swims, who brings Jedi Ezra Bridger to life, and Diana Lee Inosanto, who captivates us as the formidable Nightsister Morgan Elsbeth. They’ve showered me with words of encouragement, labeling me a “Legend” and an “Icon”, and sending their best wishes for this remarkable journey ahead.
In the initial season of “Ahsoka,” the story revolves around Ahsoka Tano, the main character who was once a Jedi Knight, as she travels through the universe, delving into the rise of a danger that imperils the fragile New Republic. Dawson’s portrayal in this series signifies the first time Ahsoka Tano has been depicted in live action. Although she gained immense popularity during her roles as Anakin Skywalker’s apprentice and after parting ways with the Jedi Order, feeling disillusioned, in various other productions.
Ahsoka Will Return for Season 2
In essence, the debut season of Ahsoka can be viewed as a spiritual sequel to Rebels and essentially functions as a live-action fifth season. The Disney+ series brings back characters such as Hera Syndulla, a general in the Rebel Alliance portrayed by Mary Elizabeth Winstead, accompanied by her droid companion Chopper. Characters from Star Wars Rebels, like Ezra Bridger (played by Ray Serenbe), Sabine Wren (Natasha Liu Bordizzo), and the droid Huyang, voiced by David Tennant in both live-action and animated versions, are also present in Ahsoka. Lars Mikkelsen reprises his voice role from Star Wars Rebels, portraying Grand Admiral Thrawn. Rory McCann will be joining the series in Season 2, replacing Baylan Skoll’s role, originally played by another actor. Anakin Skywalker, skillfully acted by Hayden Christensen, also appears in Ahsoka, and he is set to reprise his role in future episodes.
In Dawson’s posted image, it appears that Ahsoka is wearing her signature outfit from the last episodes of Season 1, which holds significant importance in Star Wars lore. Famously known as “Ahsoka The White” among fans, she first appeared in Rebels and then reappeared in the animated series’ epilogue. In the new series Ahsoka, she is seen wearing white robes after her brush with death and meeting her former master. This scene symbolizes not just a physical resurrection but also a profound spiritual transformation for the character. The knowledge imparted by Anakin enabled her to conquer her fear of following the Dark Side, as he had done.
The specific launch date for Ahsoka’s second season hasn’t been announced yet, however, with filming now underway, we might see it as soon as 2026. Until then, enthusiasts of the series can catch up with Season 1 on Disney+.
