Royal Enfield’s Flying Flea Debuts ‘Motototem’ Art Bike by Mattia Biagi

At the Salone del Mobile 2025 in Milan, Royal Enfield’s fresh electric offshoot, Flying Flea, showcased an intriguing blend of design and ingenuity – a unique conceptual motorbike called Motototem, developed alongside renowned Italian artist Mattia Biagi.

Motototem, based on Flying Flea’s premier electric motorcycle, the FF-C6, undergoes a metamorphosis into a breathtaking work of art. Biagi has reinvented key components such as the forged aluminum frame and magnesium battery case, incorporating organic materials like travertine, clay, bronze, stone, leather, and blown glass. This transformation yields a profoundly symbolic vehicle that delves into the realms of nature, history, and human interaction through sensory experience.

The bronze grip handles and footrests showcase the artist’s unique touch. Instead of standard headlight and taillight, handcrafted glass shapes have been installed. The tank, made from travertine stone, honors the vintage 1940s Flying Flea motorcycles that were airdropped during WWII. Resin-cast leaves adorn the fenders, while the seat has been transformed into a cozy walnut block. Even the tires exhibit intricate swallow designs, representing faithfulness and returning home.

Despite being an artistic creation, Motototem preserves the technological essence of the FF-C6, featuring Qualcomm Snapdragon-powered connectivity, voice navigation, and a customized riding experience engineered by more than 200 engineers from India and the UK. As Mario Alvisi, Chief Growth Officer for EVs at Royal Enfield, puts it, “Flying Flea is not merely an electric motorcycle brand—it’s a dynamic platform for creativity.

In 2025, Motototem, having made its initial appearance in Milan, will embark on a global journey, showcasing the harmonious blend of mobility, eco-friendliness, and aesthetic design.
