Levy’s choice to hire Gosling for the movie breaks away from the usual casting pattern seen in Star Wars films. Typically, Star Wars has preferred to cast new, rising stars in its productions, allowing the storyline to draw audiences instead of relying on an established star’s popularity. Supporting Sneider’s statements, Deadline reported in January 2025 that Levy and Tropper had been developing a Star Wars film for two years. Consequently, as mentioned by the source, an unnamed Star Wars movie is slated for release on December 17, 2027.
