As a fan, I’ve always appreciated Ryan Reynold’s quick humor, which has provided countless laughs. However, his alleged jab at director Justin Baldoni in “Deadpool & Wolverine” has taken an unexpected turn. According to reports from TheWrap, Reynolds seems to have admitted that the character “Nicepool” was indeed a dig at Baldoni following the issues he caused Blake Lively when they worked together. Now, Reynolds is seeking to dismiss the lawsuit against him, arguing that there’s nothing substantial to Baldoni’s case other than hurt feelings.
According to documents submitted to the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York, Reynolds’ legal team argued that Baldoni’s anger over a fictional movie character, the satirical ‘Nicepool’, is more about personal sensitivity than any genuine legal issues.
According to The Wrap’s report, the motion argues that this point aligns with the broader claim in the First Amended Complaint about ‘hurt feelings’, which in essence is just a desperate attempt to reinforce the image of bullying that the Wayfarer Parties initially crafted and spread during their retaliation campaign against Ms. Lively, which started in August 2024.
The motion further argues that the case against Baldoni fails to provide any statement that can be proven as defamatory, “as no such defamatory remark was made.
Ryan Reynolds Claims to be Supportive of His Wife, Nothing More
The legal dispute between Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni was never going to be straightforward. Initially, conflicting narratives and recollections of their interactions led both parties to garner backing from their individual fan bases. However, as additional lawsuits involving newspapers and Reynolds emerged, it became evident that the situation would only grow more complex.
As a dedicated fan, I’d rephrase it like this: In Reynolds’ court motion, he repeatedly emphasized that Baldoni and his crew retaliated against Emily by orchestrating a malicious “social smear” campaign to ruin her reputation because she bravely reported sexual harassment and inappropriate behavior on the set of “It Ends With Us.” The document highlights that Reynolds, by standing by Emily, has witnessed the emotional, professional, and financial damage she’s endured.
The statement continued by explaining that Mr. Reynolds is involved in this lawsuit for a single reason: multi-millionaire Plaintiff Steve Sarowitz (also co-founder of Wayfarer) pledged to invest up to $100 million with the intention of damaging Ms. Lively and Mr. Reynolds.
The outcome of this situation remains uncertain, but Baldoni’s attorney has proposed that both parties might avoid court if they reach an agreement on a settlement. However, it appears less probable that such a resolution will be reached soon. If it does happen, it would prevent further months of the ongoing drama associated with this case, much like how a toxic substance in a superhero origin story movie spreads and causes havoc before being contained.
