If heaven is Chicago, then Saba and No ID are surely a match made on-site. The powerhouse rapper/producer duo has promised a proper joint project for months now, and on this mid-March Tuesday, the pair has decided to officially unveil From The Private Collection of Saba and No ID, a holistic homage to the Chicago hip-hop scene.
Every Painting Has a Price” Kicks Off with a High-Energy Start, Featuring BJ The Chicago Kid and Eryn Allen Kane. “Some of my clothes come from designers / some of them are thrifted,” Saba raps in the lively first verse, with BJ taking the lead on the bridge. “Breakdown” is another powerful track that focuses on growth and healing, which are recurring themes throughout the eclectic collection of songs, drawing inspiration from various aspects of Chicago culture.
On the third track titled “Crash”, contributions are made by Kelly Rowland and Raphael Saadiq, while MFnMelo features on “Westside Bound Pt. 4”, a follow-up to “Westside Bound 3”, which is one of several other tracks in this piece.
Ahead of the album – which, in its initial form was actually branded as a mixtape – Saba and No ID shared a solid run of singles including the prolific and profound “How To Impress God,” “Woes of the World” and “head.rap” with Ogi, Madison McFerrin and Jordan Ward. Find the full tracklist below.

Listening to “A reflective and refreshing soundtrack, From The Private Collection of Saba and No ID,” offers an intimate peek into the real-time feelings of both artists, resulting in a free-flowing narrative that covers various topics – from lighthearted banter about zodiac signs to deep introspection about their purpose.
A year ago, the duo thought they were finished with the project, but when Saba’s uncle passed away, they began to reevaluate the rollout. “He’s the person who made me fall in love with hip-hop,” Saba said of his uncle. “It made me want to re-approach things; I had to have a lot of conversations with myself that I hadn’t had to have in a long time.”
“To be able to have a real career, you have to reinvent your thought process, reinvent your perspective,” added No ID. “And you can’t do it sitting on the mountaintop, yelling about what you did. You think you know—and then everything changes.”
