Sabrina Carpenter Dazzles 2025 Grammys With Jazzy Debut Performance

Following an outstanding year in 2024, Sabrina Carpenter started the new year, 2025, with great success as she delivered a classy and jazz-infused performance at the Grammys.

On Sunday evening, the artist known as ‘Short N’ Sweet’ was already a 2025 Grammy Award winner, having won the Best Pop Solo Performance for her song “Espresso.” She had a total of six nominations that night, including those for Best New Artist and Album of the Year.

Ahead of Sunday’s award ceremony in 2025, ‘Short N’ Sweet’ was already a Grammy winner, thanks to her winning the Best Pop Solo Performance for “Espresso.” That night, she had six nominations, including ones for Best New Artist and Album of the Year.

To kick off her show, Carpenter combined her popular summer tunes “Espresso” and “Please Please Please.” The latter track made her a chart-topping artist as it became her first No. 1 single on the Billboard Hot 100 in June. Both tracks are from her album Short N’ Sweet, which reached the top spot on the Billboard 200 chart for the first time in Carpenter’s career.

The 25-year-old expressed surprise about what ‘Espresso’ ultimately turned out to be, saying this in a prerecorded segment before her performance. The video also featured a charming section where Carpenter explained her signature hairstyle (she naturally wakes up with it).

In an attempt to shine under the spotlight in a unique performance segment, the singer adopted a style reminiscent of classic Hollywood for a jazzy rendition of “Espresso.” Carpenter then shed her black sequined suit, unveiling a sparkling blue bodysuit adorned with jewels as she accelerated the tempo on her hit song. Later in the show, she added a matching feathered robe for “Please Please Please” before returning to perform another version of “Espresso.

The show received a prolonged applause from the audience, with Kacey Musgraves visibly impressed by Carpenter’s appearance. During the event, host Trevor Noah humorously remarked that Carpenter’s act wasn’t just visually appealing, but also included some witty humor.

2025 will see Carpenter making their debut performance at the Grammys, marking a first appearance on this prestigious music awards stage. Last year, the singer captivated crowds with an out-of-this-world medley of “Short N’ Sweet” during the MTV Video Music Awards.

On a Sunday evening in 2025, the Grammys took control of the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles, serving as the venue for the event. For the fifth time in a row, Noah will be the host. A list of presenters has been revealed, which includes Taylor Swift, Will Smith, Anthony Kiedis and Chad Smith, Cardi B, Gloria Estefan, Olivia Rodrigo, Queen Latifah, SZA, and Victoria Monét.
