Sadie Sink Shared The Wild Way Her Stranger Things Levitation Scene Came Together Even Though She's Afraid Of Heights

As a gamer with a soft spot for exceptional storytelling and captivating characters, I can wholeheartedly say that Sadie Sink’s portrayal of Max Mayfield in Stranger Things has undeniably left an indelible mark on me. Her performance in Season 4 was nothing short of extraordinary, and the emotional intensity she brought to her character during the iconic levitation scene was truly breathtaking.

It’s been confirmed that production on Stranger Things 5 has begun, and with tantalizing glimpses behind the scenes from the cast and crew, it feels like it’s time to rewatch this fantastic series all over again. Do you recall where we last left things? The Duffer Brothers made Sadie Sink’s character, Max Mayfield, a crucial part of Season 4, and she truly shone in her role. As Vecna’s main target, Max was often lifted off the ground by the malevolent being’s spell. Despite the daring stunts involved, you might think that the actress from Fear Street would be immune to such things, but surprisingly, Sadie Sink, at 22, is quite fearful of heights. This fear added an interesting twist during the execution of this particular stunt.

In a recent interview with Variety, the star of “The All Too Well Short Film” revealed a behind-the-scenes photo of herself suspended in mid-air during rehearsals for an emotionally charged scene in “Stranger Things” Season 4, Volume 1. This particular moment, where Max is rescued by the beloved song “Running Up That Hill” by Kate Bush, has become one of the series’ most impactful scenes. To prepare for this role, Sadie Sink not only played the song on repeat but also performed her own stunts, initially hesitant to do so.

In this scene, my character floats above the ground. For safety reasons during rehearsals, I was attached to a harness, and they lifted me using ropes. Initially, my fear of heights made it difficult, but eventually, it turned out to be an enjoyable experience.

As reported by the actress from the movie “Dear Zoe”, they had only rehearsed the stunt for one day, planning to film the real scene the following week. However, the unexpected arrival of the COVID pandemic caused production to come to a standstill, resulting in a gap of about 18 months before the actual shoot. Remarkably, the actress from “Whale” managed to execute the stunt flawlessly without needing another rehearsal, which is truly impressive.

It’s unlikely that I have to remind you about the impactful acting displayed by Sadie Sink. That particular scene underscored the significance of friendship, particularly in times of hardship. It stirred deep emotions among fans and continues to do so. For those who may have forgotten, here’s the scene that had everyone talking on the internet:

As a long-time fan of the Stranger Things series, I must admit that my excitement levels have reached an all-time high with the introduction of Sadie Sink as Max Mayfield. With her exceptional acting skills and captivating on-screen presence, she has undeniably become one of the show’s standout characters. Having grown up in a small town myself, I can relate to Max’s struggles and resilience, which makes me even more invested in her story.

We’re not quite there yet; the final season of Stranger Things is scheduled for release around 2025, and it can be accessed with a Netflix subscription. In the meantime, I’m going to follow Max’s lead and re-integrate “Running Up That Hill” into my regular playlist.
