Salman Khan calls younger generation of actors ‘insecure’; reveals they refused his film offers with ‘different excuses’

Salman Khan is unquestionably a major figure in Bollywood, having spent over 35 years in the film industry. Throughout his extensive career, he’s even appeared alongside contemporary artists in dual-lead films. Interestingly, Khan feels that today’s young actors are unusually ‘anxious’ and tend to avoid working together.

Prior to the launch of his much-awaited movie “Sikandar”, Salman Khan held a press conference in Mumbai on March 26, 2025. At this gathering, he was posed questions regarding the worrying trend in Bollywood where successful films are becoming rare. In response to these concerns, the actor voiced his displeasure towards the hesitation and self-centeredness displayed by the newer generation of stars.

Salman commented candidly that today’s actors are quite anxious, as he hasn’t noticed any young stars participating in two-lead movies. He explained that he has proposed films both individually and in pairs to younger actors, but all of them turned down the opportunity to work together. They offered various reasons, but the truth is they were unwilling to collaborate with each other.

The popular member of The Wanted group went on to highlight his collaborations with notable Bollywood stars such as Shah Rukh Khan, Aamir Khan, Sanjay Dutt, Jackie Shroff, Akshay Kumar, Rahul Roy, Anil Kapoor, and Sanjay Kapoor. He reminisced about a time when they often worked on two to three films simultaneously and made guest appearances for one another.

He stated, “Our audience’s unity brought us such a significant portion of the ticket sales. Moreover, we developed a strong bond during our 100 to 150 days of filming, which grew even stronger.

Beyond this, the star likewise raised doubts about the motivations behind filmmaking in Bollywood by industry professionals. He referenced his father, renowned screenwriter Salim Khan, suggesting that films are being produced for “misguided reasons” – be it because an actor’s schedule permits, a leading actress is getting married, or financing has been secured.

As a lifestyle enthusiast, I’m thrilled to share that I’ll be part of the highly anticipated film, “Sikandar,” slated for release on Sunday, March 30, 2025. This captivating production is helmed by the talented director AR Murugadoss and boasts an impressive cast led by Salman Khan and Rashmika Mandanna. The project is backed by the renowned producer Sajid Nadiadwala, promising a cinematic experience that you won’t want to miss!
