Salman Khan ‘feels very bad’ if his films collect less than Rs 300 cr, reveals Nikkhil Advani: ‘I don’t want to carry the burden…’

As a lifestyle expert with decades of experience in the film industry, I find Nikkhil Advani‘s perspective on collaboration with Salman Khan intriguing. It’s not often that we see such honesty about the pressures and expectations that come with working with a superstar like Salman.

In a recent conversation with The Lallantop, filmmaker Nikkhil Advani admitted that he feels a sense of pressure when it comes to working with Salman Khan due to the high standards set by his films and the impact they have on the industry.

Nikkhil, the director of Kal Ho Naa Ho, expressed in Hindi that it seems like an expectation that Salman Khan’s movies must earn at least 300 crores. “If one of his films earns less than 300 crores, he feels quite downhearted. It needs to be a massive success. I don’t wish for that kind of pressure. I prefer to sleep soundly at night. I don’t want the burden of making a 300-crore film. I want to create films that resonate with me,” Nikkhil shared.

For those unfamiliar, Advani and Salman have collaborated in movies such as Salaam-E-Ishq and Hero in the past. Despite potential professional challenges, Nikkhil affectionately refers to Salman as his ‘savior’ and expresses deep admiration for him. The 53-year-old even lists Khan as one of his emergency contacts.

“The director of Batla House stated that he’s certain the actor will drop whatever he’s doing and rush over, even if it means interrupting a major action scene. If someone needs help, this individual is quick to respond, ‘I must go, this person requires aid.’ He is a renowned figure in the industry, but the pressure of managing 300-400 crores isn’t something he desires. If such a situation arises, he’s happy with it, but he prefers not to take on that stress.”

In terms of his professional endeavors, Nikkhil Advani is actively preparing for the premiere of his upcoming action-drama titled Vedaa. Notably, John Abraham, Sharvari, and Abhishek Banerjee are prominently featured in this film written by Aseem Arora. Vedaa is set to be released in cinemas on August 15, 2024. It’s important to mention that Vedaa will face competition at the box office from Stree 2 starring Shraddha Kapoor and Rajkummar Rao as well as Khel Khel Mein, which stars Akshay Kumar.

In contrast, Salman Khan is gearing up for the 18th season of his debated reality show Bigg Boss. In terms of films, he has AR Murugadoss’s Sikandar, which will be produced by Sajid Nadiadwala. The film aims to hit theaters on Eid 2025.
