As a longtime fan of Rohit Shetty’s Cop Universe, I must say that the anticipation for Singham Again was palpable. The ensemble cast and Salman Khan’s cameo have only fueled the excitement. However, as someone who has followed the evolution of these iconic characters closely, I can appreciate Rohit Shetty’s decision to keep them in separate universes.
On November 1, 2024, Singham will grace the movie screens once more. This action-packed cop drama boasts an impressive lineup of stars including Ajay Devgn, Kareena Kapoor, Deepika Padukone, Ranveer Singh, Akshay Kumar, and others. What’s particularly intriguing about this new release is the appearance of Salman Khan in the post-credits scene. Director Rohit Shetty has shared that Salman won’t be part of the Cop Universe and that Mission Chulbul Singham stands alone as a separate film.
In his recent chat with India Today, Rohit Shetty disclosed his plans to combine Salman Khan’s character, Chulbul Pandey, and Ajay Devgn’s character, Bajirao Singham, on the big screen. Shetty made it clear that these legendary characters hail from different realms and Mission Chulbul Singham would be a unique collaboration of two distinct universes coming together for just one movie.
According to the director of Singham Again, Chulbul and Singham are separate intellectual properties that have never interacted before. Essentially, neither character will exist in each other’s universe. Instead, these two distinct worlds will collide for a single movie.
Rohit Shetty also clarified that the upcoming movie featuring Chulbul Singham, titled Mission Chulbul Singham, will stand independently as a separate film. He mentioned it might take some time before production begins.
In regards to Salman Khan’s guest role in Singham Again, Shetty underlined that including the superstar in a lengthy scene would be unnecessary. He stated that the viewers might find it unneeded and potentially problematic. The director explained that it was wiser to have Salman make a brief appearance within the film starring Ajay Devgn.
For those not familiar, Salman Khan made an appearance in Singham Again where he appeared as a police officer, repeating his famous line from the Dabangg series: “Will you not welcome us?” The latest action flick also hinted at the upcoming collaboration between Salman and Ajay Devgn, titled Mission Chulbul Singham.
In the sequel to Singham, Ajay Devgn once again takes on the role of DCP Bajirao Singham. Kareena Kapoor portrays his wife, Avni Kamat. Arjun Kapoor assumes the role of the primary villain, Danger Lanka, who abducts Kareena’s character in the film.
In Shetty’s newest production, there are allusions to the ancient Hindu story, Ramayana. This movie stars Tiger Shroff and Jackie Shroff in prominent positions. Unfortunately, it went head-to-head with Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3, a film starring Kartik Aaryan, at the box office.
