Samuel L. Jackson Says “It’s Not” an Honor to Be Nominated for an Oscar: “It’s an Honor to Win”

As a seasoned gamer with over three decades of gaming under my belt, I can’t help but draw parallels between Samuel L. Jackson‘s experiences in Hollywood and my own in the world of video games.

Samuel L. Jackson feels its time to drop the facade when it comes to awards season.

In a video shared by the Associated Press, Jackson expressed his viewpoint: “Being nominated is not merely an honor; winning is where the true honor lies.

Jackson commented that many people tend to overlook Oscar-winning performances, including nominees. “You get nominated, and people might say, ‘Oh yes, I recall that.’ But most people forget,” he joked. “It’s a competition you didn’t sign up for. I didn’t join just to show off. ‘Here’s my scene, so you won’t forget me.’ They nominate you, and then people ask, ‘What movie are you nominated from? What was the title of that film?’ After it’s all over, it’s often difficult for them to recall who even took home the award.

Though I’ve had a glorious journey through filmmaking, with a career full of accolades, I’ve only been nominated for an Oscar once – back in 1995 for “Pulp Fiction”. Last year, I received an honorary Academy Award, but it didn’t feel as honorary as one might think. Instead, it felt like I was finally getting the real deal – an Oscar.

He went on to say, ‘I’ve rightfully earned it and worked hard for it.’ He mentioned that there might have been four other occasions where he could have triumphed or deserved recognition, but he’s content with the outcome. It belongs to him. He claims it as his own. His name is inscribed on it.

Elsewhere in the interview, he named 1997’s Jackie Brown one of the movies he felt snubbed for.
