Sanam Teri Kasam: Harshvardhan Rane says he was ‘heartbroken’ after film’s box office failure; ‘I kept telling myself…’

2016 marked the first Hindi film appearance for actors Harshvardhan Rane and Mawra Hocane in Sanam Teri Kasam. Although their on-screen chemistry drew positive feedback and some interest, the movie initially underperformed at the box office. Over time, however, it developed a dedicated fanbase, eventually earning cult status. Recently, actor Rane reflected on the film’s initial lack of success, acknowledging that he felt heartbroken about it but learned to accept it and move forward.

In a private chat with News18 Showsha, Harshvardhan Rane revealed that he felt deeply hurt when his movie Sanam Teri Kasam didn’t resonate nine years ago. Looking back at the letdown, he acknowledged that, just as in a romantic split, heartache is an unavoidable part of the process.

He pointed out that anyone who claims they’re unscathed by such events is likely dishonest about their feelings. Admiting his own vulnerability, he confessed that although he could feign indifference towards the movie’s poor performance, in truth, it had pierced him quite deeply.

Actor Harshvardhan Rane explained that he has since “moved forward” and comprehends the factors contributing to the movie’s sparse attendance in 2016. He admitted that it was impractical for newcomers like himself to anticipate viewers would invest in a film starring unfamiliar faces.

Gradually, he made an effort to internalize the need to accept the circumstances and continue onward. He elaborated that through his journey, he’s developed a more profound insight into the intricacies of business and filmmaking, which has allowed him to comprehend why Sanam Teri Kasam faced difficulties in drawing cinema-goers initially.

Harshvardhan Rane, recognized for his performances in Haseen Dillruba and Taish, shared that the disappointing performance of these films at the box office had such a profound impact on him that he found himself distancing from both the production team and his co-star, Mawra Hocane.

He shared that it was a tough period for all parties concerned – directors, producers, and actors – which made regular communication tricky. Although he didn’t claim to speak for anyone else, he admitted that his personal sorrow caused him to pull back and communicate less frequently.

Nonetheless, he conveyed joy for Mawra, describing the movie’s recent box office triumph as an ideal present for her upcoming endeavors. It is worth noting that merely days before the re-release of Sanam Teri Kasam on February 5, Mawra got married to actor Ameer Gilani.
