Sanjay Dutt, affectionately called “Baba” in Bollywood, has experienced a life marked by triumphs and sorrows. His journey encompasses box office triumphs, prison stints, personal heartaches, and health challenges – he’s faced it all. In a candid chat on the Vickey Lalwani Podcast, his sister Priya Dutt shared insight into the tough times Sanjay has gone through, including the passing of his first wife, Richa Sharma, and his own battle against cancer.

In 1987, Dutt tied the knot with Richa Sharma. However, by 1989, Richa had been diagnosed with a brain tumor. Priya reminisced, “It was heartbreaking to receive such a devastating diagnosis at a young age and to lose her so prematurely. It was especially difficult for Sanjay.

In 1996, Richa Sharma, who was their daughter, tragically passed away at her parental residence in New York. Leaving behind her, is Trishala Dutt, who currently resides and practices as a psychotherapist in the United States.

Even amidst his hardship, Sanjay managed to press on. As Priya put it, “He’s incredibly resilient; he handles situations well and doesn’t stay down for long. He has a knack for bouncing back.

In time, upon receiving a cancer diagnosis, Sanjay’s family reunited once more. As Priya looked back, she recalled the difficulty of those times. Sanjay’s career had begun to flourish, with promising projects coming his way. Yet, despite this newfound success, he bravely confronted every challenge that came his way.

When everything is smooth sailing, they allow each member room to flourish independently. However, as soon as challenges arise, they unite swiftly and immediately.

In my perspective as a lifestyle enthusiast, what truly made Sanjay’s journey extraordinary was his exceptional approach towards his treatment. Instead of succumbing to the label of a ‘patient’, he chose to view himself as a conqueror. Remarkably, he would head straight for a workout session after undergoing chemotherapy. He refuses to let any obstacle deter him, demonstrating an indomitable spirit that is truly inspiring. As Priya put it, “He never lets anything bring him down.

Regardless of past difficulties, Sanjay Dutt’s indomitable spirit shines through the films he is involved with, and we are eagerly awaiting his upcoming roles. Sanjay Dutt has two movies coming up next. He will grace our screens in ‘The Bhootnii’, a horror-comedy set to hit theaters on May 1, 2025.
