Sankuanz Outfits Modern Mystics With Western Flare for FW25

Shangguan Zhe’s brand Sankuanz debuted in Paris to showcase its FW25 collection called “Chöd – Laughter of the Dakinis.” Inspired by the Tibetan Buddhist practice of Chöd, this new collection balances elements such as traditional spirituality and contemporary functionality, bridging past and present, and blending Eastern and Western influences.

The presentation started with outfits featuring all-black numbers, styled with Chinese collars and diagonal slits, echoing the designer’s ancestry yet exuding a distinctly modern vibe. A vibrant shade of orange provided a striking contrast to the darker ensembles, commencing with a wrinkled robe jacket and skirt that resembled the clothing worn by Buddhist monks, then progressing to a large black leather jacket paired with orange pants.

The models were hidden behind a series of veiled looks, drawing attention to the bold outfits instead. First, a comprehensive burgundy attire was displayed, followed by a stylish black two-piece set adorned with traditional embroideries, and lastly, an oversized jacket and skirt crafted from heavily folded fabric were shown.

Later on, she presented a line centered around clean denim styles such as spacious trousers, structural trucker jackets, and long maxi skirts. Additionally, a variety of plaid flannel and weathered brown canvas items added a stronger Western influence to the collection. The unique closing pieces were then showcased, concluding the presentation in an unconventional manner.

Once more, the stage was graced by full face coverings and a somber all-black aesthetic, enhanced this time by towering headdresses shaped like red-eyed ravens and shoulder-length fringe tassels reminiscent of traditional American cowboy attire. The performance concluded with a forward-thinking bridal look, where the model was enveloped in white lace veils and accessorized with reptilian-patterned cowboy boots.
