Sara Ali Khan reviews ‘heart wrenching’ Netflix series Adolescence: ‘Work like that…’

The subject of adolescence has gained significant attention recently. The Netflix crime drama series has earned international acclaim and garnered praise from numerous Bollywood personalities, with Sara Ali Khan being the latest to express her thoughts. She described it as emotionally intense and shared that this kind of work serves as inspiration for her.

At the NDTV Yuva Conclave’s latest discussion, Sara Ali Khan disclosed that a show she recently watched on Netflix – ‘Adolescence’ – had left her deeply moved and impressed. Her exact words were, “It was truly heart-rending and exceptional.

Sara went on to explain that during her mother Amrita Singh’s time, there was a clear distinction between commercial and artistic films. However, she voiced her belief that this divide no longer exists. Sara admired the innovative ideas, technical skills, exceptional child acting, and cinematography in the series.

Sara commented, “To fully grasp where the scene transitions were hidden, I needed to rewatch it several times. And there weren’t any! Such a production leaves me inspired.” She was astounded by how flawlessly the series flowed together.

In each installment of Adolescence, a single take was used. Previously, Alia Bhatt also shared her amazement about this on her Instagram Stories. She asked, “From the scriptwriting to the setup to the outstanding cinematography – I can’t help but wonder how it felt when, after an hour of shouting ‘action’, finally ‘cut’ was called… what must the entire cast and crew have been feeling?

The TV series titled “Adolescence” is the work of Jack Thorne and Stephen Graham. This show features Stephen Graham, Ashley Walters, Erin Doherty, and Owen Cooper in key roles. The narrative unfolds around a 13-year-old schoolboy who stands accused of having murdered one of his classmates.

Currently, Sara Ali Khan can be found in the film titled Sky Force. In the future, she will appear in Metro In Dino, a project that also includes Aditya Roy Kapur, Pankaj Tripathi, Neena Gupta, Konkona Sensharma, Fatima Sana Shaikh, Ali Fazal, and Anupam Kher. The movie is scheduled for release on July 4, 2025.
