Savannah Chrisley Gets Real About How She’s ‘Struggled’ To Be A Surrogate Mom Amid Her Parents’ Incarceration

Since Todd and Julie Chrisley, the family leaders, went to prison in early 2023 for bank fraud, their lives have undergone significant changes. Now, their daughter Savannah, aged 27, is responsible for managing the household, including taking on the guardianship of her brother Grayson and niece/adopted sibling Chloe. In the media, Savannah has been open about the challenges that come with this new family dynamic, and she recently shared that she’s faced struggles in her role as a parent.

Mostly, Savannah Chrisley discusses her life experiences on her podcast named “Unlocked”. However, in a recent conversation with People magazine, she spoke more extensively. During this interview, she admitted that she hadn’t anticipated becoming a mother to 18-year-old Grayson and 12-year-old Chloe. Additionally, she has also been dealing with matters concerning her parents.

I didn’t plan on having two children, and with additional legal costs to handle my parents’ affairs, I find myself just like many others out there. On the surface, I may appear cheerful, maintaining a semblance of normality. But don’t let that fool you; beneath the smile and the roles I play, I’m dealing with my own set of challenges. It’s a case of “fake it until you make it,” a reality we all live in. Life has been tough for me.

The podcaster, together with her family members, gained recognition through their reality TV series, “Chrisley Knows Best,” a show that can be streamed with a Peacock subscription. Later, USA Network terminated the show following Todd and Julie’s conviction verdict. Since then, Savannah has been actively engaged in other projects, and it seems she is prepared to take on any challenges to assist her siblings.

I juggle several jobs: real estate sales, podcasting, social media influencing, among others. I take on whatever opportunities present themselves, not because I’m superior to anyone else, but due to my circumstances. I have two children to support and elderly parents to care for, so I’ll put in as much effort as necessary, even if it means working late into the night. I’ve often expressed that my role as a mother is innate to me, and while there’s always room for growth, it’s a journey of learning indeed.

Over the past few years, I’ve never felt alone because I’ve had an incredible network of people standing by me. Among them are those who’ve offered their help during my family’s challenging legal circumstances. More recently, I’ve been fortunate enough to have my boyfriend, Robert Shiver, as a pillar of support. We connected towards the end of 2023. Robert has openly expressed his backing for me and my loved ones, and it’s become clear that he went a step further by getting involved in our legal situation when he penned a letter of endorsement for Julie. However, it seems Todd isn’t receptive to meeting the person who stands behind me during these trying times.

Regarding the Chrisley family, Todd Chrisley is imprisoned at a Federal Prison Camp in Florida, serving a now-reduced 12-year sentence. Simultaneously, Julie Chrisley is at Lexington Medical Center, serving seven years after her recent re-sentencing last summer. The Chrisleys have requested a pardon from U.S. President Donald Trump; however, it’s uncertain if this will occur. In the interim, Savannah has been supporting her parents and providing updates on them following her prison visits.

It appears that Savannah Chrisley will continue to be the main caregiver for her young siblings, unless something changes. However, based on her recent statements about her home life, it’s clear that she is determined not to succumb to the stress that her situation may present.
