As a film critic, I’ve noticed that Disney’s live-action remakes have been raking in the dough for the studio, but they’ve also sparked some grumbles from fans who are irked by certain elements. Some of this discontent stems from the repetitive nature of these live-action adaptations, while other complaints center around alterations to the original animated narratives. Regardless of personal feelings towards these remakes, there is one element that has me completely captivated – the meticulous attention to detail in costuming, or as I like to call it, ‘method dressing’. And let me tell you, Rachel Zegler has already demonstrated her extraordinary talent in this area.
Originally pioneered by trailblazers such as Zendaya with outfits like her robotic armor from Dune 2 and her tennis-inspired ensembles for Challengers, the trend of method dressing has broadened to include numerous actors, actresses, and films. I’m thoroughly enjoying this evolution, and it’s clear that Rachel Zegler is effortlessly embracing it as she promotes Snow White, set for release on March 21, 2025.
This implies that we’ll likely experience a couple more weeks featuring such spectacular media coverage, similar to the ones we saw during the movie’s promotional tour.

At present, Zegler is touring worldwide for the launch, and recently spent a portion of her weekend in Tokyo with fans. Her white dress, adorned with a red heart embellishment resembling a sword, bears a striking resemblance to numerous Snow White fan art and tattoos that feature a knife or sword slicing through an apple. This motif symbolizes the apple’s decayed core. In the animated film, the queen presents a box with a knife piercing a heart as well.
The reddish garment accompanying the ensemble is undeniably an homage to the film. If you’ve watched the trailer for Snow White, Rachel Zegler dons a vibrant red cloak in some of the movie’s sequences. Interestingly, this red hue resembles the apple that enticed Snow White in the classic fairy tale movie, and Zegler also sported a crimson ensemble reminiscent of a candy apple for an Instagram post she made separately.

As a movie enthusiast, I’ve been following the ongoing discussion about Rachel Zegler’s role in the upcoming “Snow White” film. She’s handled the backlash with grace and thoughtfulness, expressing her feelings candidly yet carefully. Yet, the debate over Disney’s live-action movies continues to rage, with some advocating for more original productions at the box office, while others simply yearn for less repetition from the studio. It’s an interesting perspective shift, don’t you think?
From my perspective, I understand the appeal of both scenarios. I’m equally drawn to innovative, unique content, but I can comprehend why studios might continue producing similar films when some have garnered over a billion dollars worldwide. What I appreciate most is how these top-tier movies manage to blend novelty with a touch of nostalgia.
It seems like the movie “Mufasa: The Lion King” offers a blend of novelty and familiarity, as it presents fresh stories and music within the beloved classic narrative. After a cautious beginning, this prequel amassed over $704 million worldwide, leaving us to wonder if Disney will continue this approach in future productions.
In the end, it’s quite obvious that I’m all about the glamorous red carpet styles. Disney actors can stick to their ‘method dressing’ if they prefer, but I’ll be waiting eagerly for more stunning reveals from Snow White as we countdown to its release on March 21st. We’ll make sure to share any updates with you!
