As a seasoned gamer and horror movie enthusiast with over two decades under my belt, I can confidently say that the return of “Scare Tactics” has me absolutely thrilled! After a decade-long hiatus, this hidden camera horror series is back, and it’s being spearheaded by none other than Jordan Peele. If you haven’t heard, he’s the genius behind masterpieces like “Get Out,” “Us,” and “Lovecraft Country.”
Heed this warning… you’re about to get a fright! After a long absence from our TV sets, the hidden camera horror series known as Scare Tactics is making a comeback in early October, with Jordan Peele serving as executive producer. This classic show specializes in pranking unsuspecting individuals by plunging them into chilling scenarios designed to mimic iconic moments of on-screen terror from the movies.
The American network, USA Network, has unveiled a trailer for the remake that intends to petrify unwitting spectators with sheer terror while also eliciting humorous responses.
What is Scare Tactics about?
In every episode, tricksters will be seen setting up their friends and relatives, referred to as victims or targets, in bizarre situations that combine elements of humor, fear, and disbelief. These scenarios range from a seemingly ordinary dinner party taking a grisly turn towards cannibalism to new spouses discovering an unexpectedly inhuman offspring. The victims must deal with one surreal predicament after another while viewers are treated to laughter, jumpscares, and suspense that leaves them eager for the next twist.
No target is off the table, including WWE Superstars The New Day, who find themselves at the heart of a paranormal occurrence during a run-of-the-mill promo event with fellow Superstar Cody Rhodes.
Jordan Peele and Win Rosenfeld, under their Monkeypaw Productions label, which is renowned for works like Get Out, Us, Hunters, and Lovecraft Country, are serving as executive producers. Alongside them are Scott Hallock (a co-creator of the series with Kevin Healey) and Elan Gale, who serves as the showrunner.
Who is the new host of Scare Tactics?
For a significant change, this new edition will deviate from the usual practice by not being conducted by a well-known personality, but rather a spectral pre-teen character named Flip. He harbors an unusual, some might say otherworldly, fascination with horror films and human fear, creating chilling scenarios using fabricated elements that are still undeniably terrifying. He then casts real individuals as the main characters in their very own horror movies.
