Scooby-Doo Revived: Netflix Unveils Live-Action Series with a Supernatural Twist!

Scooby-Doo makes his return, but it won’t be a replica of what you remember. The popular franchise is now being reimagined for television by Netflix. In the early 2000s, two live-action movies featuring Scooby-Doo graced the silver screen and eventually gained a devoted following over time. This time around, Netflix aims to offer a contemporary take on the property in a live-action setting, drawing inspiration from other Hanna-Barbera TV adaptations that have come before.

In a contemporary twist on the original story, Shaggy and Daphne reunite at a summer camp along with brainy Velma and charming Fred. Together, they embark on an adventure to unravel the mystery surrounding a forlorn Great Dane pup who could potentially have witnessed a supernatural crime.

The team working backstage on the upcoming Netflix series for ‘Scooby-Doo’ is impressive, boasting some heavyweight players. Appelbaum, who has previously written and produced several significant projects like ‘Citadel’, ‘From’, ‘Cowboy Bebop’, among others, is co-writing this new version of ‘Scooby-Doo’. His writing partner, Rosenberg, brings a wealth of experience to the table with his work on movies such as ‘Jumanji: The Next Level’, ‘Venom’, ‘Zoo’, and ‘Happy Town’. Meanwhile, Berlanti, a seasoned TV professional, has played a crucial role in managing popular franchises like those found on the CW’s Arrowverse. For Berlanti, it seems that ‘Scooby-Doo’ holds a special significance.

As a cinema enthusiast, I’ve had the privilege of one of my earliest Hollywood jobs – spending time with Bill Hanna and Joe Barbera as they signed animation cels. The creative minds at Midnight Radio have beautifully encapsulated their inspiring personas and ingenious creation in a tale that resonates deeply. We extend our heartfelt thanks to them, along with Warner and Netflix, for the collaboration that has breathed life into this fresh take on Scooby-Doo!
