Scott Adkins Takes on a Wild West Adventure in ‘Day of Reckoning’!

The well-known action star, Scott Adkins, known for films such as “John Wick: Chapter 4,” “Undisputed,” and “The Killer’s Game” among others, has found his next role. This upcoming project seems to be a gritty, violent western – an interesting departure for Adkins given his action-packed background. It’s surprising that he hasn’t been involved in the world of six-shooting cowboys before, but the film titled “Day of Reckoning” looks like it will be his ideal debut into this genre.

[Day of Reckoning] centers around lawman John Dorsey (Roerig), who is teetering on the brink of losing his wife and job as sheriff. He teams up with tough U.S. Marshal Butch Hayden (Zane) to capture outlaw Emily Rouse (Myers). However, instead of Emily being their prisoner, she manages to turn the tables on the posse. As her dangerous husband and his gang advance, Emily and John come to understand that they must rely on each other in order to make it through this ordeal.

Scott Adkins Stole the Show in ‘John Wick: Chapter 4’

Scott Adkins’ stint in the John Wick universe was short yet impactful. He portrayed Killa, leader of the German faction of the High Table, and proprietor of an extravagant and nonchalant nightclub, where he and John Wick (Keanu Reeves) attempted to gun each other down while the crowd carried on dancing. Alas, Killa met his demise in John Wick: Chapter 4 at the hands of Mr. Wick, who himself perished towards the end of the film. Although it seems unlikely that Killa will reappear in the franchise, John Wick is already primed for a resurgence.

In the forthcoming prequel film titled “Ballerina: A John Wick Story“, Keanu Reeves reprises his role as John Wick. The movie introduces Ana de Armas as Eve Maccaro, a dancer and assassin who belongs to the Ruska Roma family, with whom John Wick had past ties. Previews of the film have already showcased the high-octane stunt work that the franchise is renowned for, such as a firefight involving a flamethrower. The spin-off unfolds between the events of “Chapter 3 – Parabellum” and “Chapter 4“, and trailers have already hinted at Keanu Reeves’ unexpected comeback.

Apart from the reappearance of Keanu Reeves as John Wick, the film “Ballerina” is reviving a much-loved feature of the series: an extraordinarily high body count. In a making-of video for the movie, Ana de Armas spoke about filming the flamethrower scene. “The flamethrower scene is outrageous,” she commented. “I think I torch 106 people,” the actress said. If this number is even close to true, “Ballerina” could surpass all other John Wick films in terms of brutality. Currently, “John Wick: Chapter 4” holds the record for the highest kill count in a single film at 140 enemies. “Ballerina” hits theaters on June 7, 2025.
