Back in the year 2000, I was there, witnessing Ghostface’s chilling demise in “Scream 3”. Neve Campbell and the gang had taken him down, leaving us horror enthusiasts thinking we’d seen the last of that masked menace. But then, like a shocking twist in a slasher flick, word got out that Scott Foley, our beloved Roman Bridger, would be back for “Scream 7”. I must admit, even as a die-hard movie buff, I find myself scratching my head over how they’re planning to resurrect Roman. It’s a mystery we’ll have to unravel together when the film hits theaters!
As a dedicated film enthusiast, I can’t help but share the intriguing response from the actor known for his roles in “Felicity” and “Scandal”. During a recent interview on “Good Morning America”, he attempted to subtly address the much-debated question with a hint of evasiveness, saying:
“That’s an excellent query, and I’d be delighted if someone could clarify it for me since I’m unsure about the details myself. As you may recall, my character was the killer in ‘Scream 3’, who was viciously murdered 25 years ago. Now, I find myself reprising this role in ‘Scream 7’, and I’m curious to understand how this continuity will be addressed.
Foley is teaming up with former cast members from “Scream” such as Campbell, Cox, Arquette, Lillard, Gooding, and Savoy Brown for “Scream 7.” This upcoming sequel will also feature new actors like Randolph, Tatro, Grace, Embry, May, O’Connor, Germann, Rechner, Camp, McHale, and Consuelos. However, what makes the series even more intriguing is the possibility of resurrecting deceased characters from previous installments.
In “Scream 3,” Foley’s Ghostface proved to be a tough adversary, but in the end, it was Sidney Prescott (Campbell) who delivered the fatal blow by stabbing Roman in his heart. As the movie drew to a close, Gale Weathers (Courteney Cox) and Deputy Dewey (David Arquette) broke down the door to find Sidney standing over the slain killer. However, it wasn’t until Dewey fired a shot straight into Roman’s head in the sequel that he was truly dead.
Scott Foley Loved Reuniting With His ‘Scream 3’ Castmates
In the third installment of “Scream,” Scott Foley’s captivating performance as the antagonist Roman Bridger, or Ghostface, stands out, contributing to its impressive global earnings of $161.8 million, despite mixed reviews from critics and horror enthusiasts. Thus, Foley’s comeback is highly anticipated, and he expresses his delight in reuniting with Neve Campbell and David Arquette on set.
Foley spoke about performing on the Scream 7 set in the same sit-down by saying:
I can’t get over it – absolutely fantastic! The joy I felt, getting to reconnect with Neve and David Arquette again was simply priceless. Not only that, but the mastermind behind the first one and my entry into ‘Dawson’s Creek’, Kevin Williamson, is directing this project. That show was his debut years ago! Being on set was like being in a dream, surrounded by people I adore and care for deeply. It was truly an unforgettable experience.
I, as a dedicated fan, am eagerly anticipating the thrilling revival of Scott Foley, along with other original cast members, in “Scream 7” set to hit theaters on February 27, 2026. Until then, fellow horror enthusiasts (particularly those who haven’t seen it yet) can explore the chilling portrayal of Foley’s Ghostface character, Roman Bridger in “Scream 3”. This gripping performance is currently streaming on Max.
