As a fan who cherished the vibrant spirit and larger-than-life persona of Scott L. Schwartz, I am deeply saddened by his untimely departure. Known to many as the gentle giant Bruiser from the iconic Ocean’s Eleven franchise, he was more than just a character on the silver screen – he was an embodiment of resilience and zest for life.
Actor Scott L. Schwartz, famously recognized as Bruiser from the Ocean’s Eleven movie series, passed away at the age of 65.
Schwartz passed away due to congestive heart failure on November 26th, in the comfort of his own home in Covington, Louisiana. His wife, Misty, informed The Hollywood Reporter about the sad event.
In the year 2001, the character Bruiser was first introduced by Schwartz in the movie Ocean’s Eleven; this character appeared to physically attack George Clooney’s character Danny Ocean in private scenes. Later, Schwartz portrayed Bruiser again in Ocean’s 12 (released in 2004) and Ocean’s 13 (released in 2007).
George Clooney expressed his regret upon learning of Scott’s passing. They had worked on three movies together, and George felt as though Scott had given him the softest yet most impactful blows. Scott was a kind-hearted individual, and he will be deeply mourned.
Schwartz has appeared on various TV shows such as Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, Martial Law, Angel, Nash Bridges, Castle, The Mentalist, The Young and the Restless, and Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Additionally, he played roles in movies like Fun with Dick and Jane, Starsky & Hutch, and The Scorpion King.
Scott L. Schwartz hails from Philadelphia, born on the 16th of March, 1959. Starting off in the world of professional wrestling with the aliases ‘The Israeli Commando’ and ‘Giant David’, he later made his way to Hollywood where he worked as a stuntman and actor.
He took great pride in his charity work, such as receiving the Glass Slipper Award from the children’s healthcare foundation CHOC, which he was particularly honored by. Notably, David Beckham and Gwen Stefani have also received this award.
Misty mentioned that while many recognize Scott through his films, those who knew him on a personal level viewed him as a lively, cheerful individual, a strong and loving person with a passion for food and travel. She also shared that he cherished life deeply and appreciated everyone he encountered during his journeys.
I’m deeply saddened to share that I, as a loved one, am left behind by Schwartz. My heart goes out to his beloved wife, Misty, their children Angela and Adam, Brenda, his mother-in-law, Sherry, Duwayne, his cousins, and Penni, his aunt. We will all miss him dearly.
