‘Scream 7’: Isabel May in Talks to Join Neve Campbell in Latest Installment of Horror Franchise

As a die-hard fan of both horror films and Western drama, I can’t help but feel a rush of excitement upon learning about Isabel May’s casting in Scream 7! With her impressive portfolio that spans from Yellowstone prequels to the recent rom-com I Want You Back, it seems like the perfect blend of terror and charm for the role.

Ghostface has a new target.

Isabel May, widely recognized for her performances in the prequels to Yellowstone, namely 1883 and 1923, has been cast in a prime role as Neve Campbell‘s daughter in Scream 7, and is currently discussing potential collaboration for a part opposite the actress known as the “Scream Queen.

The seventh movie of the horror series, produced by Spyglass Entertainment, is currently restructuring following the departure of its young lead actors Jenna Ortega and Melissa Barrera. Notably, Campbell, who had a disagreement over pay in the last film, will return for this new production. This upcoming movie will primarily revolve around the character of Sidney Prescott and her daughter.

In the director’s chair for this new installment of the “Scream” franchise is its original scriptwriter, Kevin Williamson. The screenplay for this latest movie, as well as “Scream 6”, has been penned by Guy Busick, who was also responsible for the 2022 version.

The film studio Paramount Pictures plans to premiere “Scream 7” in cinemas on February 27, 2026. The production of this movie is being overseen by James Vanderbilt, William Sherak, and Paul Neinstein from Project X Entertainment.

Campbell’s hiring marked a fresh creative direction for the movie as previous cast members Barrera and Ortega parted ways due to reasons last year and silently left the project respectively. The original director, Christopher Landon, subsequently chose to leave the production following their departures.

Filmmakers Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett, commonly known as Radio Silence, played a significant role in reviving the popularity of the series with their work on 2022’s Scream. The latest installment, Scream VI, which they also directed, earned a staggering $166.3 million at the worldwide box office last year.

Wes Craven was the one who directed the 1996 film “Scream” from a script penned by Williamson on speculation. Ever since that first movie, Sidney has been the main character in the franchise. In this initial film, Courteney Cox portrayed Gale Weathers and David Arquette played Dewey Riley.

Apart from acting as Elsa Dutton in both “1883” and “1923,” May also appeared in the 2022 romantic comedy film titled “I Want You Back.” Additionally, she shared the screen with other stars in the Apple TV+ series, “Masters of the Air.” Notably, her talent is represented by CAA and Principal Entertainment.
