As a seasoned gamer and fan of the horror genre, I must say that I’m thrilled about Mason Gooding reprising his role in Scream 7! The franchise has always been a rollercoaster ride of suspense and terror, and it’s exciting to see some familiar faces return.
Mason Gooding is confirmed as the first returning member from the Scream franchise’s Core Four.
Actor Tyler Glover (previously known as “Gooding Jr.”) will once again play Chad Meeks-Martin in the upcoming “Scream 7”. This fresh installment of the horror franchise is being produced by Spyglass Entertainment and Paramount Pictures, with a scheduled release date of February 27, 2026.
In “Scream 7”, the actor will be working alongside franchise veteran Neve Campbell and fresh faces including Isabel May, Celeste O’Connor, Asa Germann, Mckenna Grace, and Sam Rechner. The original writer of the first Scream movie from 1996, Kevin Williamson, is taking charge of this new venture based on a script by Guy Busick.
The original quartet dubbed as the “Core Four” consists of four new actors introduced in the 2022 reboot titled “Scream,” which was succeeded by “Scream VI” the following year. Unfortunately, two out of the three original cast members, Melissa Barrera and Jenna Ortega, are not returning for any future installments, while there’s currently no word on whether Jasmin Savoy Brown will reprise her role.
Last year, Barrera was let go from the company due to controversial social media comments about the Israel-Hamas conflict. Meanwhile, Ortega had already departed from the project several months prior. With these departures, the original director, Christopher Landon, chose to step down as well.
Variety was first to report on Gooding returning for Scream 7.
More to come.
