Scrubs Revival Gets Promising Update From Zach Braff

As a devoted fan of Scrubs since its inception, I can hardly contain my excitement at the prospect of a revival! The thought of J.D., Turk, and the rest of the gang returning to Scared Heart Hospital brings back memories of countless laughter-filled nights spent watching the series. If you’d asked me 20 years ago if I could ever imagine a world where Zach Braff would be organizing concerts featuring The Shins and Iron & Wine, I would have thought you were as delusional as Janitor’s attempts at wooing Elliot. But here we are!

Speculations are high that we might witness a comeback of the beloved series “Scrubs,” and comments from its main star Zach Braff certainly add to our excitement. Braff, who played the lead character J.D. in the nine-season medical comedy, has recently shared insights about the possibility of a revival and the challenges that may prevent it. The show, which is set at the fictional Scared Heart Hospital, revolves around the lives of its employees, particularly J.D., a novice doctor starting his career. During an interview with Variety while promoting a “Garden State” concert celebrating the indie film’s 20th anniversary, Braff hinted at the potential return of the show.

Bill Lawrence, the creator of ‘Scrubs’, is meeting with Warner Bros. every other week due to his numerous successful shows. Consequently, his statements become increasingly firm. While I can’t reveal confidential information, it’s safe to say that this is a business matter. I know that there are ongoing negotiations regarding ‘Scrubs’, which is a Disney show, and Warner Bros., as Lawrence has a deal with them. Once these negotiations are settled, it seems highly probable that ‘Scrubs’ will return.

If a revival of the TV show “Scrubs” ever happens, Zach Braff is fully on board and finds the concept of reuniting with the original cast and team extremely appealing.

Imagine reuniting with my pals for around ten to twelve episodes spanning one or two seasons, filled with endless laughter. To me, that’s the definition of a perfect daydream.

There has been growing excitement about a potential comeback for the show “Scrubs,” with key actors expressing their interest in the venture. Notably, Lawrence, whose impressive TV resume boasts shows like “Scrubs,” “Spin City,” “Ted Lasso,” and the latest “Shrinking,” has hinted that discussions about a revival are underway. He added that the team behind the project is eager to collaborate, indicating a high level of enthusiasm for this potential return.

Lawrence expressed that we’re nearly on the verge of discovering something significant, and he seems optimistic about it. A large portion of the creative crew behind the scenes, as well as many of those in front of the camera, are deeply involved and enthusiastic, which indicates we’re very close to a solution.

Donald Faison, known for his role as Dr. Chris Turk on Scrubs, has expressed interest in a revival of the show and potentially reuniting with his co-stars. Similarly, Heather Graham, who played psychiatrist Dr. Molly Clock during the fourth season, also showed enthusiasm for being part of the revival. Notable cast members of Scrubs include Zach Braff, Sarah Chalke, Bill Lawrence, Neil Flynn, Judy Reyes, John C. McGinley, and Christa Miller. The series can be streamed on Hulu and Peacock.

It appears a revival of the TV show “Scrubs” is in the works, with J.D. reappearing in his medical attire. However, don’t get your hopes up for a follow-up to the indie classic movie “Garden State,” as its creator, Zach Braff, has expressed no intention of altering it. In tribute to the film, Braff is coordinating a concert featuring artists like The Shins, Iron & Wine, Frou Frou, Colin Hay, Thievery Corporation, and others who contributed to the movie’s Grammy-winning soundtrack. This event will take place on March 29, 2025, at the Greek Theater in Los Angeles, with proceeds going towards The Midnight Mission, an organization that aids individuals experiencing homelessness.
