- Sea of Conquest is expanding its universe with a new comic book series
- Cradle of the Gods is written by Image comics alumni Griffin Sheridan and Ethan S. Parker
- It’ll feature a rotating cast of artists with colours by Michael Woods and letters by Luca Bertelè
As a longtime fan and connoisseur of both strategy RPGs and comic books, I must say that Funplus has truly outdone themselves with their latest venture: the Sea of Conquest comic book series, Cradle of the Gods.
Funplus’ popular strategy RPG, Sea of Conquest, is now venturing into transmedia promotion, which means content not strictly tied to the game. This change allows both existing fans and newcomers to engage with the world of Sea of Conquest in a fresh way through an enthralling comic book series titled “Cradle of the Gods.
The story follows notorious pirate Henry Hells, joined by his longtime companions Lavender and Cecily, as they embark on a journey through the treacherous Devil Seas. In this adventure, they encounter the mysterious Ancient Order. “Cradle of the Gods” guarantees a top-tier creative team, with writers Griffin Sheridan and Ethan S. Parker who have recently completed their work in the Image Comics series titled “Kill your Darlings”.
The artwork will come from various artists, with Michael Woods handling the coloring and Luca Bertelè working on the lettering. For the first issue, the stunning cover art is provided by Simone D’Armini, a talented artist based in Rome.
Into the world of four colours
I must say, I was quite taken aback by the launch of this new comic book, “Sea of Conquest.” Despite its fantastic character illustrations and captivating pirate-themed setting, it appears that Funplus isn’t satisfied with resting on their accomplishments or questionable YouTube advertisements. Indeed, a comic book series is an intriguing endeavor, offering an excellent opportunity to broaden the universe of “Sea of Conquest” without making a full commitment to something more substantial.
