Sean “Diddy” Combs’ Lawyers Question Assistant’s Dedication Amid Abuse Allegations

For over ten years, Sean “Diddy” Combs’ supposed authoritative control over his assistant was elaborated upon by the long-term staff member during his second day of testimony at the federal trial. She testified about treading carefully, aiming to please him amid numerous alleged incidents of sexual assault, and living in fear while working tirelessly for him. The job, she stated, had become her entire universe as she worked without rest for extended periods.

In court, the assistant who goes by “Mia” testified that she was subjected to repeated assaults and forced into sexual acts by Combs during her employment with him from 2009 to 2017. On Thursday, she shared details about these assaults; on Friday, defense attorney Brian Steel challenged Mia during cross-examination, asking why she continued to work for Combs and took on additional tasks like creating personalized news archive scrapbooks and video compilation gifts for his inner circle.

Mia expressed that she’s quite affectionate,” she stated to Steel from the witness stand. To this, he countered, “Towards the individual who allegedly raped you? Towards the person accused of sexual assault?

Mia claims that Combs first sexually assaulted her occurred several months into her job, during their stay at the Plaza Hotel in New York City. It was approximately when Combs encountered 19-year-old singer Cassie Ventura, who later became his girlfriend and signed a 10-album contract with Bad Boy Records run by Combs.

Mia’s recovery from post-traumatic stress, stemming from her time working for the defendant, has involved therapy. Her job there was characterized by a mix of favorable and unfavorable treatment, including job security manipulation as a form of control, verbal abuse, and ultimately termination in 2016. Mia was dismissed from Combs’ circle, ending eight years of collaboration. When she was let go, Mia was working on a documentary about the history of Bad Boy Records for Combs’ film company, Revolt Films. According to Mia, Combs did not personally inform her about being fired. Instead, she claimed another executive informed her that Revolt Films was closing down.

Suddenly, he declared, ‘Unfortunately, I’ve had a conversation with Mr. Combs, and he has decided he no longer wishes to participate in filmmaking, effectively meaning he wants to discontinue Revolt Films,'” Mia shared with the court.

She conveyed the despair she experienced when everything she recognized as her world was abruptly taken away from her. The court viewed messages she exchanged with Kristina “KK” Khorram, Combs’ chief of staff, where she expressed thoughts of suicide following what she described as the most terrible event imaginable. She confided in Steel that her position with Combs was all she had known at the time.

She mentioned that, as her aspirations began to materialize within the business she’d established, she found herself reluctant to depart from it.

In the defense’s approach during cross-examination of “Mia,” they aimed to undermine her claims of sexual assault and lessen the significance of the abusive incidents she had detailed over the last two days by highlighting instances where she appeared kind and amicable towards Combs, especially around his birthday celebrations. Mia was questioned about her social media posts wishing Combs a happy birthday after the alleged incident; she explained that as his assistant, it was customary for her to post birthday greetings while she was employed by him.

During the questioning, Steel directly questioned Mia, “Didn’t Mr. Combs never forcefully or without consent have any unwanted sexual contact with you?

Mia replied, “What I said in this courtroom is true. I have not lied to anyone at all.”

Following her termination, Mia engaged a lawyer and negotiated a severance package. After several rounds of discussions, she eventually received a sum of $400,000; following the payment of legal fees, she ended up with $200,000, as she stated in court.

The cross-examination will continue when the trial resumes on Monday.

On a Friday, President Trump expressed his thoughts about Combs’ situation and the possibility of a pardon, stating that he will examine the details if Combs is convicted. Trump also mentioned that it has been several years since he last interacted with Combs following the start of his political journey.
