On Sunday, May 18, a select gathering of private investors will be privy to the unveiling of ten filmmakers’ future projects at the Cannes Film Market, known as Marché du Film.
At The Investors Circle gathering, attendees will get an exclusive sneak peek at ten unique, debut feature film ventures. These projects are personally introduced by their respective directors and creators during the private, selectively-invited event for esteemed investors. The diverse range of cinematic styles and languages is reflected in the budgets, which span from €3 million to more than €9 million ($3 million to $10 million).
2021’s projects showcase daring, unique narratives by some of today’s most captivating independent filmmakers, according to Aleksandra Zakharchenko, Head of the Investors Circle. These are films that resonate culturally and have worldwide appeal – they require careful, sustained backing. Our goal with the Investors Circle is to elevate these distinctive voices and guide them from concept to cinematic reality.
In just two iterations, the Investors Circle has proven successful, as numerous projects have received funding. One such project, Chie Hayakawa’s “Renoir”, which was presented during last year’s Investors Circle event, has been chosen to compete at this year’s Cannes Film Festival.
