I’m thrilled to share that Jen Affleck and Whitney Leavitt, known for their captivating roles on Hulu’s popular reality series “The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives,” are set to grace the dance floor in the upcoming season of “Dancing With the Stars.” Can’t wait to see them strut their stuff!
The announcement was made during the reunion special at the end of the second season of “The Secret Wives of Mormon Wives”. It seemed like both women were anxiously waiting to be selected. The host, Nick Viall, mentioned that many MomTok ladies had tried out for the season. First, he revealed Affleck as a new cast member, followed by a surprise – Leavitt would also be joining the show.
The principal actors – Taylor Frankie Paul, Leavitt, Layla Taylor, Affleck, Mikayla Matthews, Mayci Neeley and Jessi Ngatikaura, Miranda McWhorter, along with their spouses, convened for an eventful night filled with drama. Demi Engemann was conspicuously missing from the gathering, and she became a significant topic of discussion during the special as most of the women have made public statements distancing themselves from her. Despite Engemann’s absence at the reunion, she appeared on Viall’s podcast, and excerpts from the conversation were played throughout the evening; the reality TV personality explained that she couldn’t attend due to a scheduling issue.
MomTok resumed where it left off in the drama from its ten-episode second season. During the discussion, they presented evidence of the Engemann’s infidelity accusations, held a poll to determine if Leavitt could admit fault for certain issues, and discussed Leavitt’s husband’s past.
Although returning to MomTok, Leavitt continued to have conflicts with several group members. “Let me remind you, Mikayla, that’s behaving like a bully,” Leavitt exclaimed at her co-star and friend. Leavitt accused McWhorter and Neeley, who both asserted they had always been by Leavitt’s side.
During the course of the evening, Viall conducted an informal poll to gauge opinions: most people believed Paul accepted responsibility, while only McWhorter felt Leavitt did. Interestingly, Viall himself observed instances where he thought Leavitt failed to assume responsibility.
During the reunion special, Paul’s turbulent past with her former partner Dakota Mortensen was discussed again. “We can never be a couple,” Paul asserted towards Mortensen. On numerous occasions, the main character of MomTok disclosed that Mortensen had been untrue to her.
As an ardent admirer, I found myself deeply engrossed in discussions surrounding Engemann, despite her physical absence during the special event. At one point, someone passionately declared, “She lacks moral principles and personal values.” Interestingly enough, Leavitt, who now shares a strong bond with Engemann, stood up for her on several occasions throughout the broadcast.
In an intriguing twist, when Affleck shared a voice message from Engemann detailing what she wanted to convey on camera, Leavitt appeared visibly taken aback – a lighter moment in the program featured a clip of Leavitt being coached by Engemann just three hours prior on how to speak about her on-camera.
Moreover, it was disclosed that Affleck’s spouse alleged that Engemann had threatened the couple with a cease-and-desist order.
In the aftermath of their episodes during The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives, the cast members and their spouses found solace in late-night discussions, delving into some heavy topics they had addressed throughout the season. Connor Leavitt, husband to Leavitt, bravely disclosed his struggle with porn addiction and his past as a child rape victim to the audience and fellow cast members. Taylor reminisced about her choice to reveal her struggles with body image issues and past suicide attempts during season two. McWhorter opened up about her history of sexual abuse. Interestingly, despite their disagreements, Leavitt’s husband extended an encouraging gesture for McWhorter to seek therapy, which eventually led to a reconciliation, as suggested by Viall.
The special finale of the reunion show concluded by offering a sneak peek into season three, where Neely exclaimed triumphantly, “MomTok has made it!” In the brief preview, the tension between Engemann and the rest of the group appeared to escalate significantly; hinting at the conflict, the teaser depicted Engemann and Leavitt strolling together hand in hand before transitioning to a scene where Leavitt announced her intention to establish her own MomTok.
