As a devoted admirer of Nicole Kidman, I must say that her red carpet appearance for the world premiere of “Babygirl” was nothing short of breathtaking. The way she confidently strutted down the barricade, with fans cheering and photographers snapping, made me feel as if I were watching a queen gracefully taking her throne. Her avant-garde Schiaparelli ensemble was truly a sight to behold, and it’s clear that Daniel Roseberry has once again outdone himself.
During a Friday afternoon press conference, Nicole Kidman expressed that she was feeling “uncovered, exposed, and terrified” about debuting her new erotic thriller, Babygirl. However, these feelings didn’t seem to be apparent as the Academy Award-winning actress gracefully walked the red carpet at Palazzo del Cinema in Venice later that evening.
Nicole Kidman exuded self-assured movie star charm amidst a sea of photographers, journalists, and enthusiastic fans, all eager for a glimpse. She graced the scene in an avant-garde design by Daniel Roseberry for Schiaparelli – a captivating outfit that showcased a nude organza corset bustier adorned with cascading black sequins, which transitioned into black fringe, and was partnered with a long black velvet skirt and stilettos. Upon her arrival, the crowd along the barricade burst into applause. Kidman greeted director Halina Reijn, who was draped in a white cape, and the two shared a heartfelt hug. Co-star Harris Dickinson opted for a Bottega Veneta suit, while actress Sophie Wilde made an impact in a custom Loewe ensemble, complete with a black silk veil.
Under the guidance of director Reijn, the movie titled Babygirl delves into the life of Romy, a successful and sophisticated CEO based in New York. Her professional and personal lives become entangled when she embarks on an intense relationship with a younger colleague who happens to be an intern. Nicole Kidman portrays the executive character, a woman who has not known true passion despite being married to a loving and caring man represented by Antonio Banderas. Samuel, played by Dickinson, is the staff member involved, while Esme, portrayed by Wilde, serves as Romy’s assistant. The A24 production is scheduled for release on December 25.
The opening event was a glamorous and popular gathering, largely due to Armani’s hospitality. Many of their ambassadors and house guests attended, such as Camila Mendes, Lili Reinhart, Ella Purnell, Odeya Rush, Ncuti Gatwa, Madisin Rian, Kaya Scodelario, Eva Green, and others, who graced the event.
