See How Jenna Ortega Effortlessly Channeled Geena Davis' Ghostly Beetlejuice Character In Spooky Photoshoot

As a gamer who’s spent countless hours in the pixelated world of ’80s-themed games, I must say, Jenna Ortega is leveling up her fashion game in an incredibly nostalgic way. Her dedication to channeling the iconic style of Tim Burton’s Beetlejuice is nothing short of impressive.

On more than one occasion, I’ve made this clear and I’ll repeat it: Jenna Ortega has been acing the red carpet fashion with her stylish choices ahead of the 2024 premiere of “Beetlejuice Beetlejuice.” By embracing Tim Burton’s distinct aesthetic and drawing inspiration from the original film, her looks have been nothing short of stunning. And she’s continued to impress us with an outfit that perfectly captures Geena Davis’ ghost character Barbara from “Beetlejuice.”

So far, the Scream star has rocked looks that are reminiscent of many Beetlejuice characters. From wearing a red fit that looked like Winona Ryder’s red gown in the OG movie to doing the “demure” TikTok trend in a blazer that looked like the titular character’s signature ensemble, she’s truly been leaning into the method dressing game. This next number is simply another feather in her cap when it comes to her on-theme style, as she posted a spooky photoshoot on Instagram:

The long gown that Ortega has on was designed by Giambattista Valli, featuring a white backdrop adorned with numerous pink flowers, foliage, and butterflies. Although it’s not an identical copy, it strongly evokes the style of Davis’ dress in the movie Beetlejuice (as shown below).

Then, the Wednesday actress’s stylist Enrique Melendez confirmed the inspo on his Instagram.

Accompanying her stunning floral gown, Ortega paid tribute to the movie “Beetlejuice” with her unique Ozias “Handbook for the Recently Deceased” purse. She donned an ensemble that mimicked Winona Ryder’s earlier “Beetlejuice” outfit on the press tour, while also carrying this special purse. To complete the look, she wore a pair of chunky black heels, infusing a touch of Astrid and Lydia Deetz’s gothic style into her ensemble.

Ortega’s caption draws its source from Davis’ lines, as it is a quote spoken by Barbara while under Beetlejuice’s disguise in the movie. To put it simply, while Barbara speaks the words “Learn to throw your voice, fool your friends, fun at parties,” her voice is actually that of Beetlejuice during that specific scene. This observation mirrors what many of us might be thinking now, as expressed by her stylist.

This piece truly complements my favorite outfit, adding a unique touch that I can’t get enough of. Although it’s quite distinct from other looks Ortega has worn during this press tour, it still fits seamlessly within the overall theme and pays tribute to another iconic character from the original movie.

Regretfully, Geena Davis and Alec Baldwin won’t be part of “Beetlejuice Beetlejuice,” according to director Tim Burton. He mentioned that he was steering the story towards a fresh path and concentrating on something else instead. Yet, the actress who played Astrid Deetz is holding them close in spirit and style, which is truly heartwarming!

Now, having observed Jenna Ortega’s tribute to numerous characters from the original “Beetlejuice”, such as Geena Davis’ spirit, I’m eagerly anticipating her upcoming on-screen adventure in “Beetlejuice Beetlejuice”. Fortunately, we won’t have to wait much longer, as the movie is scheduled for release in theaters on September 6. In the meantime, if the actress dons any more costumes inspired by Tim Burton’s ’80s film, we’ll be sure to keep you updated.
