See How Phil Dunster Played Into The Discourse Surrounding Ted Lasso's Future In The Best Way For Halloween

As a die-hard Ted Lasso fan who has binge-watched every episode multiple times, I can’t help but feel like I’ve grown up with the AFC Richmond family. From Jamie Tartt’s cocky demeanor to Coach Ted’s heartwarming wisdom, this show has become a part of my life.

One of Ted Lasso’s funniest lines came from Jamie Tartt when he said: “Coach, I’m me. Why would I want to be anything else?” Well, now the actor behind the footballer, Phil Dunster, is living up to that quote. That’s right, he’s donning the AFC Richmond jersey again for Halloween while also poking fun at the rumors surrounding the potential for a Ted Lasso spinoff or fourth season.

Over the summer, news broke that a fourth season of Ted Lasso could happen. There was also a report that claimed Phil Dunster wouldn’t be able to return as Jamie Tartt due to scheduling issues. However, at the moment nothing is confirmed, and we’re all just waiting to see what Jason Sudeikis says about the matter. So, while getting in the Halloween spirit, Dunster referenced the spin-off and Season 4 speculation in a fun way by posting this to his Instagram Story:

I’m delighted by how Dunster is contributing to the discussion surrounding the potential continuation of Ted Lasso in any capacity.

How To Watch Ted Lasso

You can stream Ted Lasso with an Apple TV+ subscription.

Several members of the Ted Lasso cast have playfully addressed the rumors with humorous comments – for instance, Hannah Waddingham humorously declared “Listen, you folks,” while stating she’s clueless about the situation. It appears that many cast members find themselves in the same boat of uncertainty, but it’s delightful to observe them discussing or referencing the show.

What makes Phil Dunster’s post even better is it’s for charity. As you can see in the big bold orange text on his post, this is part of the promotion of his event which is “raising funds and awareness for Young Lives vs. Cancer.” According to his Instagram, the actor is hosting a live show that will feature many celebrities, music and comedy.

It’s highly likely that it will be an entertaining event, filled with excellent jokes reminiscent of “Ted Lasso,” inspired by Ted Lasso’s Instagram story and a humorous video shared by Sam Cornforth, who plays the role of Ted in Dunster’s Jamie.

Overall, I think Ted would be proud of Dunster for using his story to do something kind.

In the meantime, as a fan, I find it clever how the actor chose his Halloween costume and playfully hinted at the future of the Apple TV+ comedy. Yet, this act has me anxiously speculating about the fate of Ted Lasso once more. Not too long ago, a Warner Bros. executive shared an optimistic perspective, implying “it’s early days,” but discussions are underway for Season 4. However, it is ultimately Jason Sudeikis who holds the power to decide, and once he makes his move, others will follow suit.

And as of right now, we have heard nothing from Mr. Sudeikis.

As we eagerly anticipate further details regarding the fate of Ted Lasso, I’m quite content with delightful posts about the series coming from cast members like Phil Dunster – especially when those posts are playful and for such a worthwhile charity.
