Seiko Celebrates Its Japanese Roots With a New Presage Craftsmanship Urushi GMT

As a seasoned traveler with a penchant for both functional timepieces and cultural artistry, I find myself absolutely smitten by Seiko’s latest offering – the Presage Craftsmanship Urushi GMT. With its deep-rooted Japanese aesthetics and modern functionality, it’s like a fusion of my two favorite worlds!

Seiko has added the Urushi GMT model to its Presage Artisanal Collection, combining practicality with a classic Japanese design style, showcasing a streamlined timepiece.

Following the classic aesthetics of Presage, the latest model is housed in a modern stainless steel case, fortified with a tough outer layer. With a diameter slightly over 40mm, this watch exhibits a profound black Urushi lacquer dial, skillfully created using an ancient method typically found on valuable Japanese furniture and ornaments from centuries past.

Contrasting sharply with the intensely dark dial are the clean, white indices and hands for hours and minutes. Meanwhile, the 24-hour markings, central second hand, and GMT hand add an elegant golden hue to the watch face, giving it a touch of luxury.

This exquisite watch runs on Seiko’s own 6R54 movement, making it the first Presage Craftsmanship model to feature a GMT function. To enhance its refined elegance, it comes with a sleek black calfskin leather strap that offers a comfortable fit.

You can now pre-order the Presage Craftsmanship Urushi GMT SPB447 from the Seiko Boutique website, with a price tag of approximately $2,103 USD or £1,590 GBP.
