Seiko x Porter Classic Unveil a Limited-Edition Presage Timepiece

As a longtime admirer of Seiko and their rich heritage, I must say that this latest collaboration with Porter Classic is simply enchanting! Being a connoisseur of vintage timepieces, the design inspiration drawn from Laurel – Japan’s first wristwatch – truly resonates with me.

Seiko’s Presage Craftsmanship Series presents an unusual collaboration, as it seldom ventures into such partnerships. In this instance, Seiko has teamed up with Porter Classic to produce a limited edition watch that honors the affection of co-founder Katsuyuki Yoshida for pocket watches, while also celebrating Laurel – Japan’s initial wristwatch.

Drawing inspiration from Seiko’s Laurel model designed in 1913, this new reference boasts a sleek, 35mm-sized traditional round case. To pay homage to early 20th-century timepieces that were frequently adapted from pocket watches, the SPB449J1 is fitted with wire lugs, echoing the design of vintage models.

Fitting its vintage aesthetic, the dial showcases a smooth black enamel finish, accompanied by Breguet-esque numerals, spade-shaped hands, and a 24-hour subdial positioned at 6 o’clock. This stylish timepiece is driven by the self-made 6R5H caliber, providing a power reserve of three days. To emphasize its collaborative nature, the caseback bears the outline of Katsuyuki Yoshida.

This watch comes equipped with a pull-through strap made of cordovan leather, available in both black and brown versions. The Seiko Presage x Porter Classic SPB449J1 Limited Edition, limited to just 500 units, is now open for pre-orders on the brand’s official website. With a price tag of around £2,070 GBP (approximately $2,750 USD), delivery is scheduled to start in November.
