As a seasoned gamer who’s navigated countless virtual worlds over the years, I must say, this political race feels like a never-ending level of “Candy Crush Saga” – frustratingly addictive yet filled with unexpected turns and challenges that test my patience to the limits.
On the eve of Tuesday’s presidential election, host Seth Meyers on Late Night expressed regret over the tight race in the polls and revisited a decade’s worth of Donald Trump’s political missteps.
I shared with my followers during our gathering on Monday evening, each of us has no power to dictate the events that unfold tomorrow. What we can manage, though, is ensuring our state of intoxication as those moments transpire.
The late-night television host subsequently displayed a series of clips featuring political analysts discussing the voting data from the election, indicating that Kamala Harris and Donald Trump were neck-and-neck in the race.
How on earth are so many surveys showing equal results? Is it that they’re conducting one part of the survey at an artisanal coffee shop in Williamsburg and another part at a Kid Rock concert, as Meyers humorously suggested to his audience? Or perhaps, it’s perplexing that an identical percentage of Americans view Trump as an immoral demagogue who could potentially destroy American democracy, while another group sees him the same way – yet they believe it’s justified because he’s an excellent dancer.
The comedian humorously commented on the poll results from Iowa, where Harris led Trump. “It’s almost as startling to think Harris could win Iowa,” Meyers quipped, “as it would be for Harris to take over Mar-a-Lago, and then Mar-a-Lago being named the top wedding venue on TripAdvisor that doesn’t get disrupted by a former president delivering an extended speech about Arnold Palmer owning a horse that…” (The jest seemed to allude to several of Trump’s controversies.)
Meyers playfully commented on Trump’s frequent criticisms towards the Iowa poll results, using clips from various rally speeches where he expressed dissatisfaction with the data. “I think even Trump can feel the negative energy, because he appeared quite down at his rallies this weekend…he seems like a man sitting alone in a bar, complaining about an old love,” he remarked.
The late-night show host discussed Donald Trump’s latest comment, suggesting that if he were to be re-elected, he would give Robert F. Kennedy Jr. free rein in shaping healthcare policy.
In simpler terms, as Meyers explained, people with medical knowledge don’t typically express excitement by saying, “I’m getting crazy about medicine.” There’s no TV series titled “Doctors Go Wild.
In a thrilling finish to the popular “Late Night” segment, Meyers subsequently provided a rapid-fire recap of Trump’s decade full of blunders, commenting, “Trump isn’t hiding his danger; he’s becoming as clear as a sign warning ‘Road Closed Ahead.’
In a single, extended statement, Meyers summarized several key points: the six-minute briefing included references to events such as January 6th and Trump’s prolonged efforts to reverse the 2020 election outcome; moreover, it highlighted Trump’s controversial handling of the pandemic, which encompassed misrepresentations about its gravity, promotion of questionable treatments like injecting disinfectant, and his economic policies that have been criticized. Furthermore, the statement addressed Trump’s contentious comments regarding women, as well as his perceived reckless management of hurricanes in Puerto Rico.
Meyers showcased several blunders made by Trump that went viral, such as struggling to close an umbrella, walking up Air Force One stairs with toilet paper on his shoes, attempting to open a garbage truck’s door while dressed as a sanitation worker, and pretending to work at McDonald’s.
Meyers mentioned, causing laughter and applause, that it’s essentially a coin flip. For almost a decade, he’s been discussing this person extensively, as proven by the points he just brought up being stored in his memory. He continued by stating Tuesday presents us with an opportunity to express collectively that we want him gone, and he truly hopes that wish comes true.
