Seth Rogen on “Specifically” Writing Dave Franco’s Role in ‘The Studio’ for the Actor

Seth Rogen was very particular when it came to writing and crafting the characters in The Studio.

The lead actor and joint creator of Apple TV+ series recently explained to People magazine his reason for “particularly” crafting Dave Franco’s character and extended storyline in the show. In the program, Franco portrays a fictionalized depiction of himself as a Hollywood action star and notorious partygoer.

To be truthful, it was quite challenging to find individuals capable of playing the roles as we had tailored the characters to match specific traits possessed by well-known personalities, according to Rogen when discussing the creation of the actor’s storyline in 21 Jump Street.

In the show, titled “The Studio“, we delve into a classic Hollywood movie studio trying to thrive amidst an era where art and commerce often clash, with Rogen portraying the fresh leader of the fictional Continental Studios. Notable celebrities have made appearances, while some characters are based on real-life figures from the entertainment industry.

Working with Dave is similar to pondering who might star in a Ron Howard film. It’s a film with a dramatic plotline, so the actor should be skilled enough, but there’s also this unexpected, absurd action he’d perform later in the series. To explain the latest episode, Dave was seen partying at an event hosted by Rogen’s character before the studio’s big CinemaCon presentation.

The bond between Rogen and Franco was initially formed due to their shared history as Platonic friends, stemming from Franco’s past friendship with Rogen’s older brother, James Franco. They collaborated for two decades following their work together in the 1999 series “Freaks and Geeks”. Unfortunately, a rift developed between them after accusations of sexual misconduct were levied against James, which appeared to sever their relationship.
