As a devoted fan of the show, I eagerly await the third season of Max’s Sex Lives of College Girls. The trailer promises a rollercoaster ride of emotions and laughter, with Reneé Rapp’s character Leighton making a poignant exit.
The roommates featured in “Max’s Sex Lives of College Girls” can be seen putting in a lot of effort while also having fun in the sneak peek of the series’ upcoming third season, set to premiere in November.
As a gaming enthusiast, I’m super hyped about the sneak peek into the next chapter of that awesome coming-of-age series created by Mindy Kaling and Justin Noble. The latest trailer is packed with exciting moments featuring Reneé Rapp as Leighton, hanging out with her roomies Kimberly (Pauline Chalamet), Bela (Amrit Kaur), and Whitney (Alyah Chanelle Scott). Can’t wait to dive back into the show!
However, since Rapp will only be present for a few episodes this season, acting as a recurring character, he helps pave the way for Leighton’s exit from the show’s fictional Essex College. Meanwhile, the three primary characters are depicted facing their own academic struggles.
It appears that Bela has renewed her commitment to Essex, as she mentioned during the sophomore year that they needed to raise their game, suggesting a decision to stay rather than transfer schools at the end of season two.
However, even though she had tweeted her GPA, she seemed uncomfortable discussing it during a meeting when asked about it directly.
In the meantime, Whitney admits she’s been feeling “inundated” and can be seen taking an espresso bean as if it were a capsule, which she describes as a “clever trick.
In her conversation, Kimberly expresses that she aims to become a Supreme Court justice by the age of 53, while donning a collar reminiscent of Ruth Bader Ginsburg and brandishing a pillow needlepointed with an image of the late justice. However, her professor, portrayed by Tig Notaro, is not deceived by this show of ambition.
The professor asks, “Are you wearing the thing they sell Asian pears in?”
Kimberly, removing her collar: “Not exactly”
Later, Bela, who had mentioned feeling as though she was pushing others away towards the end of season two, now openly declares her dedication to her companions.
“Who needs men when you’ve got good music, great vibes and the best gals,” she says.
However, when Kimberly mentions that she told a man she’d chat with him later because “tonight is for the girls,” Bela responds by saying it’s not very smart. Instead, he suggests he would have led the man to the laundry room and advanced through all the bases on two different occasions.
The third season of “The Sex Lives of College Girls” resumes on Thursday, November 21st, airing a fresh episode every week at 9:00 PM Eastern Time, with a total of ten episodes being released, concluding on January 23rd.
In addition to the main cast, The Max series features Christopher Meyer, Ilia Isorelýs Paulino, Renika Williams, Gracie Lawrence, and Mia Rodgers.
In an interview with Hollywood Reporter for their February issue, Rapp explained that her departure from the show was a challenging decision due to multiple factors. She also shared her personal struggle with accepting her sexuality while portraying a character going through the same journey on screen.
Recently, I revisited a scene from season one of TikTok where I reveal my character’s lesbian identity, tearfully,” she shared with THR. “It had been years since I last saw this scene, and it was eye-opening to realize that the emotions I was portraying on screen mirrored my own personal struggles at the time. In reality, I was in a heterosexual relationship, grappling with my identity and feelings of self-doubt and insecurity about my acting. Watching the scene again made me appreciate it even more; it’s something I would proudly share with my children. Upon rewatching, I felt a pang of nostalgia and a sense of gratitude for having that moment. It was tough to let go of that part of myself. However, I am grateful for the opportunity to have experienced that moment, as it not only helped others, but also provided me with invaluable insight during a challenging time. In my personal life, I was grappling with my sexuality, unsure about my feelings for my boyfriend while still seeing him as a friend. So, not only was I portraying this on the show, openly and publicly to many people, including my family who were unaware of my sexuality, I was also experiencing it personally. It’s incredible to watch that moment back.
She expressed, “It was fascinating to be applauded for my openness due to a TV show or fame or achievements, as it compelled many people in my circle, including family, to acknowledge and accept me in an unexpected manner, albeit in strange and convoluted ways. For instance, they might have thought, ‘We could have done this years ago without her being on a TV show.’ Yet, it made things simpler in ways that annoyed me, but I’m also incredibly thankful for. That [show] mirrored my life in many aspects, and when I watch the specific coming-out scene, I don’t perceive a character; instead, I see myself.
