As a lifestyle expert with a keen eye for Hollywood-Bollywood crossovers and a soft spot for romantic tales of resilience, I find myself utterly captivated by the story of Shah Rukh Khan and Gauri Khan. Their journey, fraught with challenges and obstacles, is a testament to the indomitable spirit of love that transcends the boundaries of fame and stardom.
Today marks a significant day for Shah Rukh Khan’s devoted fans, being the anniversary of his birth 59 years ago. As we honor his life, accomplishments, and the man behind King Khan, let us reflect on a moment when his former producers advised against his marriage to Gauri Khan, fearing it could impact his status and success.
In a past interview with Preity Zinta, Shah Rukh Khan shared stories about his relationship and marriage with Gauri Khan. He admitted that he had proposed to her numerous times before she eventually agreed to marry him. Interestingly, it was believed that Gauri, being quite reserved, said ‘yes’ out of sympathy for Shah Rukh after the loss of his mother, which may have influenced her decision.
Initially, his producers preferred him to remain unmarried and argued that a bachelor persona would boost his popularity more. But he had other plans, stating “It’s difficult but I must get married”, as he shared with his fellow actor back then. Eventually, they tied the knot on October 25, 1991.
As this occurred, it became clear to his producers that Shah Rukh Khan couldn’t survive without his wife. In a previous conversation with India Today, producer Vivek Vaswani disclosed that Shah Rukh could exist without oxygen, but not without Gauri. He further shared, “He can’t function without her; they never argue. Whenever she speaks up, he listens attentively. He is deeply in love with her.” For many years now, Shah Rukh and Gauri have been a couple and are proud parents to their three children: Aryan, Suhana, and AbRam Khan.
On his birthday, fans are anxiously waiting to catch a glimpse of Shah Rukh Khan at his Mumbai home, but they’re equally thrilled about the official announcement of his upcoming action movie titled King. Directed by Sujoy Ghosh, this film boasts an impressive cast that includes Suhana Khan making her big-screen debut, alongside Abhishek Bachchan and Abhay Verma.
As I turn 59, I’m thrilled to invite you all to an unforgettable soiree at my Mumbai residence. This isn’t just a birthday celebration, but a star-studded event that promises to bring together some of the biggest names in the entertainment industry under one roof. Get ready for an evening filled with glamour and camaraderie!
