As a dedicated follower of Bollywood and its tumultuous journey, I find myself constantly astounded by the myriad twists and turns that unfold. The latest saga involving Shah Rukh Khan, the undisputed King of Bollywood, is no exception. The arrest of a lawyer in Chhattisgarh over death threats against SRK is yet another instance of the unpredictable nature of the industry.
After a threatening phone call about Bollywood star Shah Rukh Khan on November 7, 2024, the police have taken into custody a suspect who is a lawyer from Chhattisgarh. In a recent update, the court in Mumbai has prolonged the suspect’s police detention until November 18, as announced on Thursday, furthering investigations into this case.
I’ve been following the latest developments in an intriguing case surrounding Shah Rukh Khan, where a lawyer from Raipur, Chhattisgarh named Faizan Khan, has found himself in the spotlight. Initially detained on November 12 due to accusations of issuing death threats and demanding 50 lakh rupees from the actor, his police custody has now been extended by the court up until November 18.
The authorities in Bandra received a threatening call that was eventually tracked to Faizan’s mobile device. The Mumbai police subsequently arrested him in Raipur and secured a warrant for his transportation back to conduct additional investigations.
In the court hearing, Faizan Khan’s defense team, Amit and Sunil Mishra, presented their case by stating that his phone was taken before the incident occurred, implying that the call could have been part of a plan to falsely accuse him. They also recalled an earlier dispute Faizan had with Shah Rukh Khan over a controversial deer hunting reference in the movie Anjaam (1994), which Faizan found offensive due to its impact on the Bishnoi community, a group renowned for their dedication to wildlife preservation.
As an overly enthusiastic admirer putting words to my own thoughts, I’d say: I was supposed to willingly show up before Mumbai officials, but I’ve been met with numerous menacing warnings, which led me to ask for a virtual hearing for my safety instead. The court, in its wisdom, decided to keep me under police supervision until November 18, providing the authorities with the time needed to investigate the matter more thoroughly.
This occurrence involving Shah Rukh Khan takes place amidst an escalating atmosphere in Bollywood, with fellow actor Salman Khan also reportedly facing similar menaces, supposedly from the Lawrence Bishnoi group.
Simultaneously on the professional side, Shah Rukh Khan is preparing for his upcoming film titled King, helmed by Sujoy Ghosh. This movie will feature him alongside his daughter, Suhana Khan, along with Abhishek Bachchan and Abhay Verma. According to TopMob, production for this highly anticipated project is set to commence in January 2025.
