As I reflect upon Ameesha Patel’s illustrious career and recent revelations about her journey, it is evident that she has navigated the Bollywood landscape with grace, resilience, and perhaps a touch of serendipity.
Originally, the movie “Chalte Chalte” featuring Shah Rukh Khan and Rani Mukerji was initially proposed to Ameesha Patel. Unfortunately, she didn’t join the cast due to her assertion that her secretary failed to notify her about it. Lately, the actress from the film “Gadar 2” disclosed how Shah Rukh Khan responded when she decided not to participate in the movie.
In a recent chat with BeautybyBiE, Ameesha Patel discussed the ups and downs of her acting journey. She mentioned that despite not regretting any choices she’s made in life, there are always lingering questions like “what if.” The actress illustrated this by referencing films she passed on for various reasons.
The actress openly discussed her inability to participate in certain movies because of scheduling conflicts or doubts about her fitting the role, and she also mentioned losing out on others for unexplained reasons. She acknowledged that some of her films turned into massive hits, while others flopped. Later, she reminisced about Shah Rukh Khan’s movie “Chalte Chalte” and revealed that she had no idea she was even given the opportunity to play a part in it.
The actress remembered that when Shah Rukh Khan was ready to release his movie and was doing the dubbing, he invited her into the recording studio to show her some edits. He told her, “Come, I’d like to share some edits of a few scenes from a film you turned down.” Surprised, she asked, “Shah Rukh, which film did I reject?” To which he replied, “This very movie.
During an interview with Siddharth Kannan this year, Ameesha pointed out a separation in the assignments she received and those overseeing her work. “For quite some time, there were levels of secretaries and managers; they prevented projects from reaching the actor,” she stated. “There was a significant amount of this happening.
Additionally, she mentioned notable filmmakers such as Yash Chopra, Sanjay Leela Bhansali, and Sajid Nadiadwala. She indicated that these directors were hesitant to work with her due to the influence of the individual overseeing her career.
Last year, Ameesha returned to the big screen in a major way with Anil Sharma’s Gadar 2, starring alongside Sunny Deol. This sequel to the 2001 original saw her taking on her character Sakina once again. The movie was one of the biggest money-makers in Bollywood cinema last year.
