As a proud alumnus of St Columba’s School in New Delhi and a contemporary of Shah Rukh Khan, I can confidently say that his exceptional talents were evident even during our school days. He was indeed “cool” in every sense of the word – not only was he the lead in the musicals, but he also excelled academically and never came in second in any sport.
Actors Rahul Dev and Shah Rukh Khan attended the same high school, St Columba’s School in New Delhi. During their time there, Shah Rukh was older than Rahul. In a recent conversation, Rahul reminisced about their school days and praised Shah Rukh for his remarkable abilities, describing him as “cool in every way” and stating that he was a “well-behaved child at school.” He also mentioned that Shah Rukh could have become a scientist because he wasn’t a spoiled kid.
During my conversation with Mamaraazi, he shared that our school was pioneering in introducing computers within the nation, and there was a talent assessment process involved. Out of many students, just 20 were chosen for this opportunity, and Shah Rukh Khan was one of them. He was often the star performer in the musicals, which were quite intense productions.
It was mentioned furthermore that Shah Rukh has consistently shown an affinity for the stage and excelled academically. Rahul pointed out that he’d never witnessed Shah Rukh place anywhere but first in any sports competition.
He described him as not being a boring nerd, but rather the true definition of “cool”. He emphasized that Shah Rukh was not a spoiled brat, but rather a graced child.
During an interview with Connect FM Canada, Dev shared memories of playing cricket together on the same team during our school years. Back then, Shah Rukh Khan served as the wicket-keeper, while Rahul was known for his quick pace as a fast bowler.
I remember vividly that the year in question saw Shah Rukh being bestowed with the Sword of Honor award. Interestingly, it was also during our school days that he demonstrated an exceptional talent in multiple sports such as football, hockey, and cricket.
Rahul remarked that it’s not shocking for Shah Rukh Khan to have achieved superstardom, and he believes there won’t be another like him for a millennium. They both acted in the 2001 movie ‘Asoka’ when they were school friends.
During an earlier conversation with The Lallantop, singer Palash Sen – a former classmate of Shah Rukh Khan – shared his conviction that SRK would excel beyond a film career. He admired Shah Rukh as a highly intelligent person, highlighting the outstanding academic achievements he made in school.
On the work front, SRK will be next seen in Sujoy Ghosh’s King with Suhana Khan.
