Shah Rukh Khan’s Mohabbatein co-star Jimmy Shergill recalls first meeting with him and Amitabh Bachchan: ‘Kya karam kiye honge’

As an ardent fan of Jimmy Shergill’s illustrious career, I find myself constantly in awe of his journey and the stories he shares from his past projects. His reminiscence of meeting Shah Rukh Khan and Amitabh Bachchan during the shoot of Mohabbatein is particularly intriguing. It’s not every day that one meets their idols and finds themselves questioning if they must have done some extraordinary deeds in a past life to deserve such an opportunity!

Lately, Jimmy Shergill has been keeping occupied with the promotion of his latest Netflix thriller titled Sikandar ka Muqaddar. Notably, one of the actor’s notable films from earlier in his career is Mohabbatein where he collaborated with Shah Rukh Khan and Amitabh Bachchan. Reminiscing about the past, Jimmy recently recounted his initial encounter during filming and confessed that he thought he must have carried out some exceptional good deeds.

In a recent interview with Screen, Jimmy Shergill was asked what thoughts were going through his mind when he first met Shah Rukh Khan and Amitabh Bachchan during the shoot of Mohabbatein. He replied, “I wasn’t thinking about what I wasn’t thinking, but rather pondering on why I was here. I was wondering if I must have done some extraordinary deeds to be standing here on set.

However, he revealed that he regretted not getting a picture with them.

Jimmy Shergill brought up that he’d encountered Amitabh Bachchan at Yash Chopra’s house during a havan before filming, and shared an interesting detail: he had hurt his hand a few days earlier and was wrapped in a bandage at the time. He added that it was Aditya Chopra who introduced him to Big B, introducing him as the actor portraying the character of Karan.

In simpler terms, he explained that the person responded quickly by stating, ‘I believe he’s a deeply immersed actor, perhaps overdoing it for the part.’ In the movie “Mohabbatein,” Karan would injure himself intentionally to express his feelings for Preeti.

Referring to Shah Rukh Khan, the actor from Tanu Weds Manu stated that he provided significant assistance during our scenes. He expressed, “This is why I always say that even before I entered the industry, Shah Rukh Khan served as an inspiration for us. He was an inspiration when I joined, and he continues to be one today.

Meanwhile, Sikandar ka Muqaddar also stars Tamannaah Bhatia and Avinash Tiwary in the lead roles.
