She confessed that it was more than she ever dared to imagine and considered herself fortunate, as it turned out even better than she expected.
During an interview with India Today Digital, Mahima reminisced about her acting beginnings and shared that working alongside Shah Rukh Khan on her first movie, Pardes, surpassed every hope she had as a newcomer.
She shared, “During my first movie, I envisioned various scenarios, but let me tell you, Pardes surpassed anything I could ever have imagined. In fact, it turned out to be more impressive than anything I might have dreamt of for my debut.
Mahima modestly admitted that she wasn’t as skilled as others during that period, pointing out that numerous individuals had more talent than herself.
Mahima went on to explain that while luck indeed played a substantial part in her landing her first film, it was also undeniable that she fit the role perfectly since they both originated from small towns, which made her portrayal more authentic. She reminisced about how it was typical for new actresses to make their debut alongside new actors, but she felt incredibly lucky to have been introduced to the industry alongside Shah Rukh Khan, who was a megastar during that time.
When asked if the movie might return to theaters, Mahima hinted that during the past two years, whenever Pardes’ anniversaries were commemorated, people frequently invited her to join their celebrations.
Mahima gratefully accepted the invitation as a stand-in for Shah Rukh Khan, since budget constraints prevented him from attending the 25th-anniversary celebration. She also shared her delight in discovering that the film “Pardes” continues to be well-liked by today’s generation.
