As a seasoned movie enthusiast who has witnessed the rollercoaster of Bollywood productions, I must admit that the news about Shahid Kapoor’s Ashwatthama: The Saga Continues being put on hold due to budget constraints and logistic challenges is not entirely surprising. It seems like a recurring theme in our beloved industry, where grandiose ideas often clash with financial realities.
Shahid Kapoor, who recently appeared in Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya this year, has been signed for the main role in Ashwatthama: The Saga Continues. This film, which is a mythological action production from Jackky Bhagnani and Vashu Bhagnani, has faced some production hurdles. According to recent reports, the production of Shahid Kapoor’s Ashwatthama The Saga Continues has reportedly been paused. Here are some details about the difficulties that the team is currently facing.
As per Mid Day’s report, the filming for Ashwatthama: The Saga Continues has temporarily stopped due to financial limitations and logistical difficulties. These issues need to be addressed before production can resume. Originally, a massive budget of 500 crore rupees was allocated for this project. However, expenses escalated during the pre-production phase.
A member from the production crew shared with the news outlet that the scope of Ashwatthama: The Saga Continues is “massive,” and their intention is to rival global fantasy-action movies. It was planned for Shahid Kapoor’s film to be filmed at various locations around the world.
Given the complexities of organizing shoots overseas and sticking to budget constraints, the team found it extremely difficult to achieve this goal, as an informed source stated. Additionally, Pooja Entertainment’s financial obligations significantly contributed to delaying the Bhagnani project.
In March of this year, Jackky Bhagnani unveiled the continuation of Ashwatthama titled “The Saga Continues”. He excitedly shared this news with his followers on Instagram, revealing that he’s partnering with Shahid Kapoor for this ambitious production. The film will initially be shown in theaters before it becomes accessible on Amazon Prime Video.
It has been reported that Vashu Bhagnani is said to owe approximately 2500 million Indian rupees due to poor performances at the box office for his latest films, Bade Miyan Chote Miyan, Ganapath, and Mission Raniganj. Bhagnani found himself in a sticky situation earlier this year following accusations of unpaid debts towards filmmakers, artists, and workers.
In September, director Ali Abbas Zafar asserted that the producer failed to compensate him for his work on the film starring Akshay Kumar and Tiger Shroff. Subsequently, the Bhagnanis initiated a police complaint against Zafar alleging misuse of funds during the production.
Additionally, Shahid Kapoor is set to appear in the film “Deva,” directed by Rosshan Andrrews. Co-starring Pooja Hegde, this action-packed thriller is scheduled for a cinematic release on February 14, 2025, making it a perfect Valentine’s Day treat.
