As a long-time basketball fan and avid follower of NBA news, I can’t help but be amused by the recent banter between Shaquille O’Neal and Joy Behar on The View. Shaq is known for his larger-than-life personality both on and off the court, and it seems that he doesn’t shy away from setting the record straight when it comes to rumors.
Shaquille O’Neal is widely recognized as one of the greatest basketball players in history, known not only for his impressive skills on the court but also for his bold and vocal opinions off it. The retired athturned media personality doesn’t shy away from expressing his thoughts, particularly when it comes to rumors. Recently, there have been reports that O’Neal banned Joy Behar from one of his restaurants. When Behar interviewed him on her talk show “The View,” O’Neal didn’t hesitate to address the issue, even jokingly involving friend and NBA legend Charles Barkley in the conversation.
A 52-year-old basketball star with four NBA titles, Shaq, made an appearance on a popular talk show not long ago to publicize his new ABC game show, titled “Lucky 13.” However, before the discussion turned serious, Joy Behar, aged 81, brought up a rumor about being banned from one of Shaq’s restaurants, Big Chicken. Shaq addressed this playfully and candidly before Behar could elaborate:
As someone who has followed basketball for decades, I can’t help but feel a strong dislike towards Charles Barkley. His infamous comment about kicking Joy Behar out of a hypothetical restaurant still irks me to this day. I remember watching that interview back in the ’90s and being shocked by his callous words. It didn’t sit well with me then, and it doesn’t sit well with me now.
Despite the light-hearted banter, it’s clear that Shaq has shown great kindness and benevolence this year. In 2022, he footed the bill for an entire restaurant and contributed to the relief efforts following the shooting at Tops Friendly Markets. Continuing in this giving vein, Shaq granted Joy Behar a lifetime membership to his Big Chicken restaurant chain. Witness this heartwarming gesture for yourself in the video below:
Shaquille O’Neal and Joy Behar appear to have moved past their past disagreements, suggesting that the issue is now ancient history between them. However, it seems that O’Neal may still hold a grudge against Charles Barkley. Given Barkley’s character, I bet he would find this amusing and unbothered.
As a gamer, I’m thrilled that Joy Behar and Shaq put the rumors to rest lately. If I were in Joy Behar’s shoes, I would certainly take advantage of that perk. The Big Chicken menu boasts some tempting dishes, so it goes without saying that she’s quite fortunate to possess that privilege.
As a dedicated television viewer with a passion for morning shows and sports-related programs, I’m thrilled to share my excitement about two upcoming TV schedules on ABC.
