Today, a fresh sneak peek was unveiled showcasing a contemporary take on a chilling ghost tale, set to hit the big screen on March 28, 2025.

The story, titled “The Woman in the Yard“, revolves around Ramona (played by Danielle Deadwyler), a widow and mother who has just experienced the loss of her husband in a car accident, leaving her with a leg brace. As she grapples with fresh wounds and overwhelming grief, she and her children strive to rekindle their love for life. The unexpected arrival of a woman, mysteriously seated in their yard, draped entirely in black, adds an enigmatic twist to their already challenging circumstances.
Okwui Okpokwasili, who has been seen in ‘The Exorcist: Believer’ and Julie Taymor’s ‘A Midsummer Night’s Dream’, possesses knowledge that seems uncanny. She asserts that she only appears when summoned, and with hands stained red, she declares emphatically, “Today is the day.
Initially, the family assumes the woman is disoriented or misplaced, but as she approaches their house, her dominance and sinister motives become evident as she slips through the darkness. In order to safeguard her 14-year-old son Peyton Jackson (known for his roles in ‘Respect’ and ‘American Refugee’) and 6-year-old daughter Estella Kahiha (recognized from ‘Will Trent’ and ‘BMF’), Ramona musters all her courage to shield them against a force she doesn’t fully comprehend.

Hailing from Blumhouse, the movie titled “The Woman in the Yard” features Danielle Deadwyler, who was nominated for both BAFTA and SAG awards (notably seen in “Till“, “The Harder They Fall“, and “The Piano Lesson“), portraying Ramona. After a car accident that tragically claimed her husband’s life (Russell Hornsby, best known for his roles in “BMF” and “Fences“), Ramona finds herself consumed by grief.
