Shilpa Shetty's lawyer calls reports of ED raid at her residence ‘misleading’; says, 'she has nothing to do with any offence'

As a diehard fan of Shilpa Shetty, I find it incredibly disheartening to witness yet another storm brewing in her otherwise serene life. It seems like the universe has a peculiar fondness for throwing lemons at our beloved Bollywood actress, and we fans are left with the arduous task of making lemonade.

On Friday, November 29, 2024, various media sources announced that an Enforcement Directorate raid occurred at Shilpa Shetty’s residence due to allegations linked to her husband Raj Kundra’s pornography case. Nevertheless, Shilpa Shetty’s legal representative has refuted these assertions and declared that she holds no connection to the said case.

According to the spokesperson, Prashant Patil, the actress has no connection to the case or any illegal activities, as stated in his official announcement. This declaration was made in response to earlier news reports and clarifies that there was no basis for the Enforcement Directorate to conduct a raid on her home.

Lawyer Patil clarified that rumors circulating in the media about a raid by the Enforcement Directorate on Mrs. Shilpa Shetty Kundra are false and misleading. In fact, there is no ongoing investigation against her for any alleged offenses.

Moreover, he mentioned that the ongoing investigation into the pornography case of 2022 encompasses Raj Kundra, a businessman who is working with law enforcement agencies to reveal the facts behind this matter, as they both are under scrutiny.

Shilpa’s attorney asked news outlets to refrain from using pictures or recordings of the actress associated with Sukhee, when discussing the case. He clarified that such usage harmed her professional standing and threatened potential legal consequences for persistent offenders.

The problem originated from a news article published by PTI, stating that on November 29, 2024, the ED conducted raids at Shetty’s residence and several others, linked to a money laundering case involving the distribution of pornographic and adult content via the ‘hotshots’ app. The report mentioned that 15 locations in Mumbai and certain cities in Uttar Pradesh were being investigated.

Investigations regarding this matter have been ongoing since May 2022, following the arrest of Raj Kundra and several others linked to him for a brief period before being released on bail. Nevertheless, Mr. Kundra subsequently refuted any active role in the case, asserting that he was instead wrongfully accused.

Previously this year, the pair encountered additional legal hurdles when Enforcement Directorate seized approximately 980 crore rupees’ worth of their assets in a unique case involving cryptocurrencies. However, they received a reprieve from the Bombay High Court as the court reversed the seizure order.
