Shocking Twist Behind Daredevil: Born Again’s Storyline Change!

In a recent conversation with SFX magazine, as reported by GamesRadar+, Charlie Cox, who plays Matt Murdock/Daredevil, has shared that the storyline for the upcoming series “Daredevil: Born Again” will be significantly different from what was initially planned by the original creative team. He explains why this Marvel Cinematic Universe show on Disney+ has taken a new direction in its narrative.

After the 2023 WGA and SAG-AFTRA strike, there was a change in our path, which had been intriguing and justified. The debate was that if we were returning after so many years, we didn’t want to simply repeat the same actions. Marvel scrutinized the episodes and realized they weren’t quite hitting the mark.

As a devoted cinephile, I’ve just wrapped up an extraordinary production – a brand-new pilot episode. What follows is nothing short of cinematic magic: the post-production team has meticulously restructured the footage to breathe life into a series that resonates with the essence of the show we initially brought to life years ago. Given the Herculean challenge this task presented, I’m utterly astounded by their remarkable achievement.

The eagerly awaited comeback of the Netflix “Daredevil” series, which originally aired from 2015 to 2018 across three seasons, brings back many beloved characters to team up with Cox’s title character in “Born Again”. It’s plausible to assume that Vincent D’Onofrio’s Wilson Fisk, also known as the Kingpin, will again be one of Daredevil’s toughest enemies.

Daredevil: Born Again’ Showrunner Offers His Two Cents on Story’s New Direction

The official trailer for “Daredevil: Born Again” on YouTube has gathered over 14 million views and 568,000 likes since its release on January 15th. The thrilling footage seems to spare no punches. Marvel enthusiasts are swiftly reacquainted with Charlie Cox’s Matt Murdock and Vincent D’Onofrio’s Wilson Fisk over a casual meeting at a diner.

With Dario Scardapane stepping into the role of showrunner, there were significant changes made to both the protagonist’s and antagonist’s storylines. Scardapane spoke about the series shifting focus, and also hinted at where viewers will find Murdock and his companions when they tune in to Born Again. In an interview, Scardapane mentioned:

As a discerning movie critic, I must confess that while the original footage showcased some impressive elements, it seemed to veer away from the authentic Daredevil persona we had grown accustomed to. The Netflix series concluded with Foggy (Elden Henson), Karen (Deborah Ann Woll), and Matt (Charlie Cox) scribbling a plan on a napkin, symbolizing their dreams. This dream serves as the foundation for our story. It’s not a convoluted vision requiring extensive exposition; instead, it’s a simple yet powerful portrayal of three solid companions embarking on a business venture together.

The series “Daredevil: Born Again” starts streaming on Tuesday, March 4, exclusively on Disney+. Apart from Cox, D’Onofrio, Henson, and Woll, Wilson Bethel reappears as the antagonist Bullseye. Moreover, the excitement of safeguarding Hell’s Kitchen wouldn’t be complete without Jon Bernthal’s character, Frank Castle (also known as the Punisher), causing chaos in the Marvel Cinematic Universe series.

Furthermore, the character who doesn’t know fear will face the enigmatic Muse. The recently introduced figure didn’t make his debut in the comics until after the Netflix Daredevil series had concluded. The Muse first surfaced during the “Dark Art” narrative in 2016, but he took his own life in the monumental 600th issue of Daredevil in 2018.
