In the side quest “Dawntreader” within the game Avowed, events take a shift as you set off to locate missing expedition team members. Essentially, an Oracle assigns you a task: place a relic in a statue he’s constructed, but is it advisable for you to do so? In this guide, I will explain the consequences of each choice you have available below.
What happens if you put the relic in the statue for the Oracle?
If you agree with Sargamis’s scheme to resurrect the deity, feel free to insert the fragment of Eothas into the statue. Once you locate and activate the switch that serves as your quest goal, the statue should start animating, but it might not always work out that way…
As a gamer, I understand that the Oracle requires a crucial component, my own vitality or “life energy,” to operate effectively. I consent to this sacrifice, and once prepared, I’ll position myself beneath the Animancy apparatus, ready for the inevitable moment when it takes my life.
After being revived, you find yourself with the additional goal (if you so choose) to vanquish the Oracle. From what I gather, your current situation seems to have no escape route other than a confrontation with Sargamis who will promptly engage in combat.
Eventually, aiding the Oracle on his mission to resurrect Eothas proves unattainable. Consequently, you’ll find yourself compelled to make another choice, and here’s where that begins.
What happens if you kill the Oracle and put the relic in the statue?
Refusing the Oracle could lead to a fatal confrontation with him. Make sure to search his remains after the battle to acquire ‘Last Light of Day,’ his enchanted sword. This weapon has two special abilities: Golden Sun’s Ascent, which restores about 3% of your total health whenever you defeat an adversary, and Dawn’s Remembrance, which increases each of your attacks by 10% to deal extra fire damage.
Now, the Voice will get in touch with you, and it wants you to converse with it using the nearby Adra device. Follow these instructions, and it’ll guide you to place the Eothas Splinter into the statue. By doing so, you will unite your soul with your body. Previously, you placed an object similar to this relic in the statue and activated a switch. Repeat those steps now, and the statue will magically become active this time.
As a gamer, I’d rephrase it like this: “The Voice might ask for another word from me. It’ll express gratitude and hint that someday, if we’re liberated, we could revisit this place. Immerse in this avatar once more, touch the ground again. Yet, right now, it’s just starting out, delicate. It needs to rest here undisturbed. A confidante you could be for its secret.
Afterward, it queries whether it can reside within the statue. At this point, you have two possible decisions, and some questions to guide your choice. In essence, you will either affirm or deny this possibility.
- The statue is yours.
- Everything about this statue is wrong. I have to destroy it.
If you decide to hand over the statue to The Voice, it will express its gratitude and indicate that it requires some time to consider its new possession. Keep in mind that any changes or developments might not occur right away. Should anything significant happen within Avowed, I’ll make sure to update this discussion and notify you accordingly.
What happens if you destroy the statue?
A different approach presents itself in this scenario. You could eliminate the Oracle, a despicable individual responsible for mass murder, and inform The Voice that destruction is necessary. Subsequently, you might encounter an extra task to ‘Overcharge three Energy Centers.’
These are all sealed off, however, the initial one can be located to your right beyond a wooden barrier, behind the statue.
For the second step, circle around to the left of the statue, then cross a wooden plank. On the opposite side of a space, you’ll see some additional wooden panels fixed to a wall. Utilize a long-range weapon to break down the panels, followed by neutralizing the generator with a zap.
To reach the final essence generator, ascend the ladder where you previously placed the relic in the statue, then follow the wooden plank towards its right side. Leap over the gap when you come across it, and perform a 180-degree turn immediately afterwards. Jump to the ledge on your right which is located behind the statue’s head.
1. Circulate around to the opposite end of the statue. Leap over the void to discover additional wooden planks and a generator ready to be shocked hidden beyond them.
2. Go around the statue to its other side. Cross the chasm to uncover extra wooden platforms and a generator that’s just waiting to be electrified behind them.
3. Walk around the statue, then continue to its far side. Hop across the void to locate additional wood decking and a generator that’s ripe for zapping hidden beyond it.
4. Circumambulate the statue, then proceed to its other end. Traverse the gap to reveal more wooden flooring and a generator eagerly awaiting to be shocked behind it.
5. Rotate around the statue and head towards its opposite side. Leap over the void to discover extra planks of wood and a generator that’s ready for zapping hidden beyond them.
Should you decide on this action, it appears that no immediate changes occur. However, The Voice might express disappointment towards your choice, but there’s no substantial impact on the gameplay as a result of destroying the statue.
There’s a possibility that this choice could affect your bond with The Voice as the story unfolds in Avowed. Once we have definitive information about any potential long-term effects from this decision, we’ll keep you updated.
What should you do with the relic and the statue in Avowed’s Dawntreader side quest?
Ultimately, choosing the ‘optimal’ course of action presents a dilemma: Either we decide to destroy the statue or give it to The Voice. You understandably can’t aid the Oracle in his schemes, and carrying the Splinter of Eothas out of here seems rather futile.
I chose to present the statue to The Voice, who appears to have acted with good intentions thus far. Shortly after our initial conversation, we acquired our first divine power, and it has since alerted us to various potential perils in the world. However, there’s a possibility that it might be manipulating you, so consider this: perhaps destroying the statue could be the wiser move.
Once I have a better understanding of the details, I plan on adding more info to this post. Until then, here are some other quest guides that might be helpful: locating the Dawnshore cartographer, finding The Voice’s memory in Dawnshore, and deciding whether to take action against the smugglers or report the refugees.
